Ahh, the first league game of the season. I will be hoping to kick off the season in style in what should be an exciting match. They are currently place at #6, one below the TT Lions, but don't let that fool you. They are a strong team, and came in at #1 in IV.40 to be promoted. They have a very well balanced squad, with 4 players with Battrick ratings of over 7000, and many with ratings around 5000. If this is a fair estimation of their skills, it should be a good match.

Lineup (probable): Cox, Delop, Lonergan, Crouch, Greenwood, Nguyen-lee, Dennis(*), Fallon(+), Deane, Atkinson, Drayton
Pitch: Uneven
Match orders: Play as Normal.
Bowling orders: Sets of five
Toss: Field first

Dennis Blunder costs Lions Match!
TT Lions make poor start to season campaign​

After a night out on the town drinking with his 'Girlfriend', Dennis arrived pretty late last night, but promised us he'll be fine. However, he was still a little tipsy as we walked out to the ground the next day. I handed him the team list, in which I had clearly marked down next to the players' names who were to bowl. Unfortunatley, his eyesight was still a little wobbly, and he made a critical error and told Billy(Greenwood) to bowl instead of Ryan(Crouch). The entire team knew this was a mistake, but Arthur D is not one to back out from a fight, and add to that the fact that he was still a little inebriated from the night before, he wouldn't back down until he had convinced everyone in the ground that he was right. Greenwood even refused to bowl, but then Arthur D bursted, and let me tell you he is a very fierce...um...'Debater', and has his way of...um...'convincing' people that he is right. He also has a total disregard for the umpires (and hence was fined 99% of his match fee), and reduced youg Billy to near tears. Greenwood ended up bowling, and gave 84 runs of his 10 overs, something that cost us the match. I then took a leaf from Micky Arthur's book and dunked him in an ice bath in the middle of the innings. He promptly apologized and made a gutsy fifty but in vain as 312 seemed a little too high. Oh well, atleast we had a good laugh in the end...


Ratings:

To be honest, I am a little dissapointed to have lost with theses ratings. But there is still the whole season to go, so can't waste time brooding over this loss.



Income

The large capacity crowd meant that I earned close to 96,000 pounds in gate reciepts alone! So not a bad day financially:

TT Lions seize thriller!
Atheron-ham and Dennis heroics snatch victory​

A fine bowling display from Atheron-ham and a fantstic knock by skipper Dennis led the TT Lions to an emphatic victory over 28 de Perimetro. Fielding what appeared to be their 2nd. string team, the TT Lions got of to a great start, winning the toss and electing to bowl on this pacy wicket. It only got better for them as youngster Leon Atheron-ham snatched two wickets in his first over. However, they seemed set for a comeback before Mike Leonard got the vital breakthrough. The spinners bowled pretty well in tandom, with Nguyen-lee picking up the match's top scorer Kelly. Pat Cash came in for some rought treatement late in the match however, conceding 12 off his final over. Things were looking good and a total over 260 looked possible, but some good bowling in the death by Atheron-ham and Leonard restricted them to 227. Atheron-ham scalped 5-44 and Leonard took 3-50.
The TT Lions runchase strated poorly however, losing Mpumelele in the first over to spinner Thackery. Lonergan and T?oeu steadied the ship for a while, but T?oeu soon fell to a dubious LBW decision. That sparked off a mini collapse, with Nguyen-lee and Greenwood falling in quick succession. Lonergan also departed after reaching his fifty, and at 143/5 things were looking grim. However, Dennis stood up to the occassion and stood up to the de Perimetro spinners, being particulary brutal to Jacobs, in a violent 53-ball 65. Leon Atheron-ham, who looked like doing nothing wrong today, hit a quick 19 in a vital partnership with Dennis, taking the score to 183. He then was trapped plum, and two balls later Deane also departed. Both of them victims to paceman Corry. At 183/8, a real tight match was on the cards. Thats when Leonard showed his experience in a calm 22 ball 14, which took the team inches away from victory. But he ran himself out, and the pressure was back on. But Pat Cash, who had a dismal game with the ball, walked in and blasted two fours to take the team home with 50 deliveries to spare!
MOTM was awarded to Atheron-ham for his fine bowling display, topped off with a fine catch and a useful knock down the order.


Ratings:

A great match, so the ratings don't have much to choose between them.

Income

Another home match which is good for the purse strings. Being a Cup Match against a not so successful team, meant the attendance was a bit low, yet over 50 thousand pounds is enough
