Sri Lanka cruise to victory

Well Sri Lanka were always favourites to beat the bermudans, but lets have a look how they did.

Chaminda Vaas took the new ball, and Sarwan perhaps the best player in Bermudan colours was facing. Vaas certainly set the pace when he bowled a bouncer that hit Sarwan on the arm. Next ball Sarwan whacked it over cover for 4. Then the next ball was played and missed at. But the first wicket came on the 5th ball of the over when Sarwan dabbed the ball, his partner was slow to set off and was run out.

Malinga started at the other end, and he bowled sloppy allowing the bermudans to hit 10 off the over, but Vaas came storming in and was also hit for 5 runs. The bermudans possibly fighting the Sirils.
No not really, Malinga got the breakthrough with the score on 19 with a great ball, which the batsmen could only fend off to square leg.

All the Sri Lankan fans knew the big wicket would be Sarwan, which Vaas gleefully removed with a great full swinging ball, which Ramneresh went after and missed, sending the stumps flying and killing Kumar :p ....no really  .

Murali was welcomed with a warm applause, the fans expecting him to murder all the bermudan batsmen, but they proved that murali can be fought as Hurdle walloped a full ball into cow corner, a murali trademark, for 6. The corwd were shell shocked....

But at the other end, Sanath Jayasuriya, one of the heroes came onto bowl. He bowled very well, first getting an edge after the bermudan batter went for a big cover drive. Next to go, well next ball was a back of the length, which surprised the batter and he spooned it too cover. His third wicket was full and spinning and literally destroyed the batsmen. Giving him 3 marvelous economic wickets, but....

Sanath could have had a hattrick, as he bowled a great delivery, the batsmen came down the track, and missed, Kumar fumbled the ball and the batsmen got back to his crease.

The other main destroyer of the innings was Farveez Maharoof, who took the last 4 wickets all caught on the boundary part of the trap set by the captain. Three of them caught at deep cover the other caught going big down the ground.

Sri Lanka had crusied to victory giving Matt West a very comprehensive victory, but his interview will come later. Sanath and Farveez led the team off the field to standing ovation and to the blaring music of "In the morning" by Razorlight.

INTERVIEW WITH THE COACH

Well Mr West what are your thoughts on the game, it was a comprehensive victory.
Matt West said:
Wow, i never knew it would be that exillerating. It was a great game for us. We needed that little bit of match practise before we leave for England in 3 days. Luckily the Bermudans were touring, and they happened to be playing in Kandy yesterday. We rang up their office and requested a match, and i'm glad they accepted.

What were your thoughts on the batting?
Matt West said:
Well we batted well, the first 10 overs we maybe could have scored more, but this Kandy pitch can be unpredictable so our batsmen had to figure it out. Ummm...Kumar played well in his little innings, which shows promise. Sanath and Mahela batted very well, we all know what a destructive played Sanath is, but i was pleased for Mahela who proved to all his critics that he can play One Day cricket. But most of all i was pleased by the batting of theyoung man Charlie, who we hope is the next generation in Sri Lankan cricket and is a bright spark.

What about the bowling, you bowled them out cheaply and comprehensively.
Matt West said:
Well we knew we had to get out Sarwan, we felt he was the spine of the team, and i was absolutely over whelmed when Chaminda got him. Sanath bowled very well, and was unlucky not to have a hattrick, but that wasn't Kumar's fault the ball dipped on him, and he missed it. So what we still won. Farveexz came back and got the tail out cheaply.

Have you any thoughts on the tour to England?
Matt West said:
Well i have ideas, and i am looking forward to it. Going back to England is a dream, and them being bigger than us, there is no pressure. On the selection front i have ideas, but you will find out on Wednesdat when we announce the team, just a day before we fly.

Well thank you Mr West and good luck for the future.

?1.5 million denied Matt since u started with " Wow " ;) Nice work with the interview!

But the real test comes for Lankans when they face quality opponent!

Good win that. Even though it was only Bermuda, you still have to beat them. Maharoof did well and will be crucial I feel for the Lankans.
