Hey,

I havent posted for a while....as I had gone out for a while. Anyways I have got Cricket 2005 and had thought about carrying on my NatWest Series on Cricket 2005. But I guess you will now have to wait for that, as I need tools to edit the team lineups (something like the Lineup Editor) for the PC controlled teams. Also I havent really got the full hang of the game yet.

So I thought in the meantime I could well start a new story which need not be as accurate and realistically oriented as my main story.

So here we are.....South Africa are touring India for three test matches.

All Test Matches will be played in Kolkata as Cricket 2005 has only this stadium in India.

So let the games begin.....

First Test begins

India vs South Africa
First Test
Kolkata, India

Just to inform...I am playing as India

Conditions and Pitch:

This game is ofcourse being played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. This venue will host the next two test matches also.

Indian skipper Saurav Ganguly won the toss and elected to bat first.
Saurav Ganguly said:
Its look like a good batting track and we want to make first use of it and try and post a good total. It might turn towards the end, so batting last will not be easy.

And both the teams for this match.
India have preferred Ashish Nehra and Ajit Agarkar to Irfan Pathan and Anil Kumble.

Surprisingly there is no place for Abraham De Villiers in the South African side, despite his recent good performances against England and West Indies.

Okay.... so the match is about to begin..

Well it was disappointing to see no Lineup Editor in the Squad Management option. Also no upclose look at the pitch which also sucks in my opinion.
But hey the graphics are mind blowing, atleast a million times better than Cricket 2004. The way the players walk on to the field and the batsmen take stance and stuff really looks awesome and very real.

vaughan cant wait for this one should be a cracker of a test series,Good luck mate.

Shaun Pollock rips through Indian top order

At Lunch on Day 1
India - 1st Innings
53-4 in 29 overs
S. Pollock 3-26 after 11 overs

Shaun Pollock produced a fantastic display of fast and swing bowling, bagging three wickets and putting the Indians right on the backfoot. An awesome line and length throughout his long spell of eleven overs made life difficult for the Indian batsmen.

The first wicket to fall was that of Virender Sehwag. A bad shot played here by Sehwag and he really has only himself to blame. But full credit to Pollock and Ntini who have frustrated the Indian openers with a good line and length.

Yuvraj Singh then played down the wrong line to a Shaun Pollock delivery that swung back in into the left hander and left his offstump rattled. Not the start India was looking for.

Well as we all know, a lot of turn is expected on this pitch, so really no surprise to see Graeme Smith call upon his premier spinner so early in the innings as first change.

A fantastic day for cricket, a bit humid, but pretty comfortable.

Rahul Dravid plays a nice looking cover drive, and the crowd erupts in the stands!!

If there was anything that India dint want at this stage was a wicket, and especially one reuslting from a run out. Well to make matters worse, they lost their best batsmen Sachin Tendulkar after Andre Nel hit the stumps direct from Mid On.
6nqtjs.jpg

The Wall, Rahul Dravid, is then caught at gully by Ashwell Prince off Shaun Pollock. Super Shaun picks up his third wicket as India are reduced to 42-4

Just two boundaries have been scored in the innings so far. The first one was scored by Yuvraj Singh in the first over, and the second is this one by Saurav Ganguly.
6nqvs0.jpg

Well India sure have all the thinking to do as the players head for Lunch.
6nqwkl.jpg

I am not sure about this but I dont think we can quite change the camera angles of custom replays as we could in Cricket 2004. I will confirm this once I read the manual however. Also I noticed that in the close ups, left handed batsmen appear as right handers, and bowlers bowling from over the wicket and shown as walking back to their run up from round the wicket.
Well the player animations and celebrations are amazing. The strokes are also good to look at though they do at times look a bit weird. Looks like the new motion capturing technology used in this game has done a neat job.
Also it was good to see the CPU bowl the odd no ball.

India's batting card, very disappointing. Well then, now its upto Ganguly, Laxman and Dhoni to save India from this early disaster.

A top class bowling display from the Proteas. What a superb start to the tour, lead by the ever reliable Shaun Pollock. Good bowling by the others also, Makhaya Ntini, Andre Nel and Nicky Boje, who especially is generating a lot of turn already.

So can India bounce back from this? Can the under pressure captain do something special here and save his team, or will the proteas continue dominate?

All questions will be answered in this very thread....so...hey....do stay tuned!!

wow the graphics are amazing! Really want the game, this looks more realistic rather than BLIC which is very cartoony and unrealistic!

This is a good start, KUTGW.

Can you play CPU v CPU in tests or ODI or 20/20 stuff like that.

Wow, great stuff mate! Got the game yesterday in SA and think graphics are really good. Havn't had time to really check it out.

Good story to get used to the game...batting not so easy! I have to back SA to win this one!

Are you putting the other story on hold until you can continue it with C2K5?

Yup. Until I figure out a way to edit the lineups of the teams, I will have to keep my main story on hold.

Nice work, good luck.

Graphics are stupendous and Boucher looks so real.

India bowled out for just 146

At Tea on Day 1

South Africa - 1st Innings
6-0 in 6 overs

India - 1st Innings
146 all out 51.5 overs
M. Dhoni 56(63)
S. Pollock 6-64 after 19 overs
M. Ntini 2-15 after 9 overs

Well there was some hope for India as they still had Ganguly and Laxman at the crease and Dhoni yet to come, and all these three are known for their batting. However this day belonged to South Africa and to Shaun Pollock. He got into the act again in his second spell and finished with figures 6-64. It could have been even better but for a gutsy innings at the end from M. Dhoni.

The South Africans ready and geared up to continue this good start to the series

Shaun Pollock is delighted after having picked up the wicket of VVS Laxman
6ohrwj.jpg

Ganguly edges this one straight to Andre Nel at slip, and hands Pollock his fifth wicket of the innings.
6ohs9y.jpg

M. Dhoni then restores some pride for India, in a fine innings of 56 under extreme pressure, hitting 7 fours and 1 six.
6oiclu.jpg

Ntini then picks up his first wicket of the match with this.
6oicyv.jpg

Agarkar fails with the bat. Many questioned his selection in the team ahead of Irfan Pathan and Balaji. Well the fact that he can bat quite a bit was supposed to be the answer.
