Here are rules for Cricket Chat on what is spam and what isn't to clear up any confusion members may have on this issue.

Spam is defined as anything that is irrelevant to the thread in question. Therefore quality discussion of who should open the batting for Australia would be classed as spam if it was in the England/Pakistan thread and not the Australia/England thread. In the cricket chat threads scores which simply give a score update without any comment or a meaningless description would be classed as spam:
e.g.

great shot

Boom Boom Afridi

These could be made into meaningful posts if thoughtful analysis or opinion was added:
e.g.

102/4 - England will need to consolidate from here and cut out the big shots for the moment otherwise they'll be lucky to reach 200

great shot. That was a majestic drive through the covers by Lara against Asif; one of the best I've seen all game.

Boom Boom Afridi. How good is this guy? He may give his wicket away too much but he's so destructive when he gets going

Off-topic asides: sometimes members may wish to discuss an aspect of the game that is not stricly related to the thread title. As long as this is done with the content of an on-topic and relevant post it won't be treated as spam.
Spam:

how did you manage to get your phone airbourne zub?

Not spam:

The ball seems to have started moving around a bit, that will make it much harder for the tailenders
btw how did you manage to get your phone airbourne zub?

We don't expect members to produce top quality posts everytime and we want to encourage discussion but we hope this will help members understand what sort of posts moderators are going to be deleting.

Just to clear things up on videos from cricket matches.
This violates the copyright law as the person that recorded the game does not own the rights to redistribute copies/clips of the match.

For this reason PlanetCricket does not allow links to clips of Cricket matches even if Youtube/Google video allow them. So please do not post links to clips of Cricket matches.

This rule only applies to Cricket matches if you upload a video from a game like Cricket 07/BLIC then we have no problem with you linking to them.

Read before posting news

When posting news from a cricket website, please follow the following guidelines.

1. Do not post complete articles. Just a section will do, perhaps with your own commentary.
2. Always post a link to where the article comes from.
3. Surround anything in the post that isn't your own material with QUOTE tags.

Of course, these do not apply if you rewrite the news in your own words.

Several people have been posting news articles recently without following these rules. Please note that if you do not follow these rules, your post WILL be deleted.
