Story The Kent Spitfires County Season (Ckt 2005)

Firstly I have had to start a new story as there was a fire in my house and I have only just got a new computer so I lost my Canada season. Luckily my parents and myself were all out off the house when it happened and our next door neighbours called the fire brigade in time so that there was only minimal damage downstairs. I have re-downloaded Tutsi's patch and will be playing this Kent season on Hard. Now that I have explained myself let's crack on


Welcome to the Sky Sports coverage of the 2005 English County Cricket Season. The first match we will be showing you is the National League Division 2 Match between Kent and Derbyshire at Derbyshire.

Let's go down to square with Michael Atherton to get the pitch report and the results of the toss.

Hi there! I will be commentating throughout this match for all you viewers at home. This pitch looks to be a real batsman's paradise. There is nothing that is going to make the ball do strange things, although the overcast conditions might mean the new ball swings quite a bit. If we could now proceed with the toss Michael Di Venuto.

David Fulton has called Heads but it is tails.

So you have won the toss, what are you going to do Michael.

We will have a bat first. I would like to get a good high total on the board and take it from there.

Well I would have preffered to bat first but I believe that what little the pitch has will go by the time we bat giving our batsman a slightly easier chance.

So you have seen the toss. Derbyshire will bat first. Here is a summary of the pitch



Let's look at the team's as the Debyshire openers walk out

Well Derbyshire have got off to a flyer scoring boundaries reguarly





Stubbings however is dismissed by a beautiful delivery by Matty Saggers



That was definetly out. A good decision by the umpire.

Stubbings will be dissapointed though as he was hitting the Kent opening bolwers all over the place



The captain Michael Di Venuto is the new batsman



After 10 overs the score is 50/1 with Debyshire looking in a strong position. Di Venuto has been very hard hitting



Andrew Hall has been very expensive and so was quickly taken off by Fulton. Saggers has been bowling well though.



The partnership between Moss and Di Venuto grows

No area of the ground is safe from these two

Back over Saggers head



Between gully and point



Clipped for 4



Half-volley straight down the ground



The partnership is broken by Simon Cook when in his first over he gets one to nip towards Di Venuto, clean bowling him



A good knock but he would have liked to have made half-century in the first match of the season



The new batsman is Bryant



The fielding restrictions are lifted and Derbyshire are 85/2 looking perfectly poised



None of the Kent bowlers have been looking that dangerous and both the opening pair have gone for quite a few. Simon Cook though has looked deadly in his first over



Overs 8 and 11 were both high scoring

derbyshire are going pritty well here,keep this up mate.

Moss pushes one up in the air...........



But it falls just wide of Simon Cook



Derbyshire reach 100 runs with the loss of 2 wickets after 19 overs



Moss's innings come's to a close where he mistimes a cover drive and spoons it to Simon Cook



A useful knock



The new batsman is Bassano



Who is almost bowled first delivery by James Tredwell



After 25 overs the score is 120/3 with Debyshire looking to be in a spot of trouble



Simon Cook has been the pick of the Kent bowlers getting a wicket and keeping it tight

This is a really nice story mate and you're doing very well with the presentation, just one thing though, can you please use Burma's bat-pack and roster as I feel it will add a new level of realism to your story. The link to the download can be found below

Thanks for the link but I am rubbish with the downloading of mods (I don't know how I got the Sky package to work) and when I downloaded it I inadvertently deleted my next match against Warwickshire which I was halfway through which I will have to start all over again

Anyway I'll continue with the Derbyshire match

Disaster for Derbyshire as they begin to lose quick wickets

First to go is Bryant for only 13 after clipping one up into the air to David Fulton to which the skipper clung on to





Then Bassano goes when he is caught by a superb catch by Rob Key on the boundary







The two new batsmen are Friend and the keeper Sutton

Sutton shows his intentions early on by smashing a massive six of his fourth ball



Derbyshire's manhattan shows that they have really failed to score runs after the end of the fielding restrictions whilst still losing wickets



Tredwell continues his good bowling when he picks up ANOTHER wicket, trapping Friend LBW





David Fulton will be happy now that Kent are into the Derbyshire tail with the score only at 146, as the spin bowler Botha emerges



Fulton shows some confidence in his bowlers when he brings Andrew Hall back into the attack who had a torrid time against the openers



And with his first ball goes for four



However a few balls later he picks up the valuable wicket of Sutton who had been looking strong.







As Welch emerges Fulton will be hoping that the Derbyshire tail will now offer brief resistance



After 35 overs the score is 162/7 with the middle order failing Derbyshire



James Tredwell has bowled superbly well for Kent and with just one over left of his alloted overs he has figures of 8.0-0-28-4. Simon Cook has bowled well also getting a wicket but more importantly keeping it tight. Sheriyar has been unlucky not to get a wicket and has also beem keeping it tight. The slight concern for David Fulton might be the expense of his opening bowlers which will be something that will have to be discussed in the post-match analysis



We are going to take a quick break but stay tuned for more cricket in the Derbyshire v Kent National League Division 2 match

Oh sorry, didn't comment on the story

Kent have made a very nice comeback here and will be aiming to chase a target 180-190 but they still can bowl Derbyshire out for less than that if they apply themselves well

This is my first time at these forums and I'm loving this stroy keep up the good work
