This is an article for me to gain re-entry into the news team.

It can be moved to the Members Article Section when/if it gets accepted.

The 15-man squad for the first two ODI's against Pakistan was announced earlier today.
Rahul Dravid, after a bad series against Australia, has been dropped for Virender Sehwag.
Gautham Ghambir, coming off a groin strain, makes a comeback, while UP swinger Praveen Kumar makes an International appearance for the first time.

What were the selectors thinking, dropping The Wall, Mr. Dependible, Captain Consistency or whatever you want to call him for...Virender Sehwag? What has Sehwag done to deserve a call up? The 75 against the Greens today? For his "bowling"? Are they too caught up in the T20 craze?
This is One-Day cricket. They play it for 50 overs, and you need a side that can bat (and field) through for the whole quota. You're not going to recover from 20-3 as easily in the longer form of the game then the twenty-over format.
You need someone like Dravid to see off the tough period and anchor through the innings-and let the younger, more robust hitters to score. Does Sehwag deserve this? More importantly, does Rahul Dravid, who has been churning these consistent performances for YEARS, deserve this? The obvious answer for both-No.

Take a look at the squad. It features not two, not three, but five opening batsman. Take away Robin Uthappa, who's solidified himself at 6, and you have two batsman who have to bat in a place where they're not comfortable. The combination of Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly has been simply fantastic for India. Why should we dismantle something that's worked so well for us? Go back to the old saying-If it 'aint broke, don't fix it.

What about the youngsters, who've done more then Sehwag to deserve a role in the team. Suresh Raina cracked two brilliant half centuries for the Blue's on the trot. S. Badrinath has been churning good performances in the domestic circuit for a couple of seasons now. Yousuf Pathan-the allround option. Parthiv Patel and Dinesh Karthik-who are not only both dynamic batsman but give India the second keeping option.

The only positive from this whole thing has been the induction of Praveen Kumar into the fifteen. He has a fantastic line and length, and testing accuracy. He's not express by any means-keeps it around the 125kmph mark, but moves it both ways. With a List A bowling average of 20 and an economy less then five, he deserves to wear the blue. He's no muck with the bat, either. Averages a solid 25 with the bat in List A's and 35 in T20's, and has a strike rate of 107 in the fifty over format.

By no means did Dravid deserve to be dropped. He was going through a lean patch but you cannot afford to drop a player of his class. And his replacement was strange as well-Sehwag has done nothing special in the domestic circuit, and had an average T20 Championship. Raina and Badrinath deserved a go more then Virender Sehwag did.
All in all, the selectors have royally messed up.

I have read the article. Not fantastic. Too much rage & bias, no substance and some awful grammar. You are an intelligent lad, take more time proof reading your articles.

I have some comments and constructive criticism.

Gautham Ghambir,
Gautam Gambhir
UP swinger
Don't abbriviate.
Mr. Dependible
Dependable

Do not use ... in articles as a rule of thumb.

Most people would have not heard of the Greens. Change it to, "The 75 against a lackluster India Green in the Challenger Trophy?"

At least mention Dravid's bad series against Australia. 51 runs in 6 innings. People will think he has been dropped for nothing. Also, avoid use of fancy punctuation. "The obvious answer for both is a resounding no."
Take away Robin Uthappa, who's solidified himself at 6, and you have two batsman who have to bat in a place where they're not comfortable.
Sehwag was originally a middle order batsman and Ganguly and Tendulkar have both batted in the middle order for a fair few ODIs.
Why should we dismantle something that's worked so well for us? Go back to the old saying-If it 'aint broke, don't fix it.
Put the saying in speech marks. Be objective, accept that India will be trying to blood young openers for the role.

Go with Badrinath's full first name there. If I recall correctly, Badrinath has been playing very well in domestic cricketer for about five years now. Note that Dinesh Karthik was dropped (you act like he hasn't been playing for India over the past year) and why that was. How can you accept the selection of Kumar and then be angry about Karthik's drop. Kumar was picked in place of Karthik.
Yousuf Pathan-the allround option.
Yusuf Pathan I believe is the spelling. I would go with "Yusuf Pathan, older brother of Irfan and a potential rival for the all round position with his agressive batting and Virender Sehwag-like off spin bowling." or something along those lines.
He has a fantastic line and length, and testing accuracy.
Remove the comma

Sounds a bit village to me, remember you are writing an article, not a post.

The information is all good and your POV makes sense but take on board my suggestions.

Thanks.
Criticism's good.
It's to make me better at it, and I appreciate that.
You took time to read it through and help me out. At least you posted!
Thanks again.

indian cricket selctor r bunch of jokers...they enjoy great facilities from bcci..and they pick worst fielders and worst bowlers...

I've thought about the openers situation before and I think I came to the conclusion that it's simply how talent is migrating in India. In any case you don't tend to put your best batsman at six or seven, but a player with exceptional technique and hand-eye coordination is likely to become an opener if there is no reason to put him any lower. A player of international quality is going to do well against the standard pace attacks of Indian cricket, so there is always a chance of him moving higher and higher, to the extent that as a junior he might already be an opening batsman because he outlasts his team mates at the crease so often.

I think the end result is if you're building a team you can take them from where ever you like, because they will be young and will grow into the roles you give them. If you're just going to mercilessly rotate them, then you need to think a lot more about experience and specialities.

Great job in that 'constructive criticism'. well worded too!
