Thanks again to all the managers who helped me to run this season's Associate Premier League - it wouldn't have been possible without you. Now, this season saw a huge shift in the power base from last season, as perennial strugglers Kabul and Dubai finally stood up to be counted as genuine contenders. At the same time, previous medal winners all struggled. It will be interesting to see if this heralds a new age for the APL.
The first award is the golden ball. This was a fairly open contest, but in the end tthere was one man who stood out ahead of the pack. In eight games for Amsterdam, Irishman Tim Murtagh collected 21 scalps at a measly average of 14.5. He also collected a brace of four wicket hauls. He fought off strong competition from Harvir Baidwan (19 @ 20.9), Kevin O'Brien (16 @ 18.2), and Trent Johnston (19 @ 16.8) to win this honour.
Tim Murtagh just couldn't stop taking wickets.
Next to go is this season's golden bat. There has never been a more open competition for this award with five century scorers and countless big innings. However, no batsman really strung together a series of noteworthy performances. This season, though, the recipient of the bat is sure to be controversial. With an average of just 31.3, this batsman didn't impress with his weight of runs, but with the time he scored them. Each of Preston Mommsen's three half-centuries came at vital times for his team: two when they had lost a lot of early wickets, and one in the grand final.
Preston Mommsen was the embodiment of composure.
It won't be often that the winner of the MVP award would be on the sixth place team, but sometimes stats just don't lie. As well as scoring 350 runs at 58.3 opening the batting, this year's Player of the Season took 16 wickets at 18.2 runs apiece. This season, the Player of the Season is Kevin O'Brien.

SEASON THREE
Thanks again to all the managers who helped me to run this season's Associate Premier League - it wouldn't have been possible without you. Now, this season saw a huge shift in the power base from last season, as perennial strugglers Kabul and Dubai finally stood up to be counted as genuine contenders. At the same time, previous medal winners all struggled. It will be interesting to see if this heralds a new age for the APL.
The first award is the golden ball. This was a fairly open contest, but in the end tthere was one man who stood out ahead of the pack. In eight games for Amsterdam, Irishman Tim Murtagh collected 21 scalps at a measly average of 14.5. He also collected a brace of four wicket hauls. He fought off strong competition from Harvir Baidwan (19 @ 20.9), Kevin O'Brien (16 @ 18.2), and Trent Johnston (19 @ 16.8) to win this honour.
Tim Murtagh just couldn't stop taking wickets.
Next to go is this season's golden bat. There has never been a more open competition for this award with five century scorers and countless big innings. However, no batsman really strung together a series of noteworthy performances. This season, though, the recipient of the bat is sure to be controversial. With an average of just 31.3, this batsman didn't impress with his weight of runs, but with the time he scored them. Each of Preston Mommsen's three half-centuries came at vital times for his team: two when they had lost a lot of early wickets, and one in the grand final.
Preston Mommsen was the embodiment of composure.
It won't be often that the winner of the MVP award would be on the sixth place team, but sometimes stats just don't lie. As well as scoring 350 runs at 58.3 opening the batting, this year's Player of the Season took 16 wickets at 18.2 runs apiece. This season, the Player of the Season is Kevin O'Brien.

Mommsen is crap....He was the reason why we lost to Dubai twice.
