The West Indians drew the match by the skin of their teeth thanks to the renowned rabbit Lance Gibbs surviving three deliveries from the fast and furious Imran. It was fitting for Gibbs who was made to toil for as many as 80 overs in the match for the grand total of 4 wickets.

Wes Hall too was made to bowl as many as 65 overs in the match, including 44 in the first innings. He made the most of it with a 7-wicket haul.

With almost no hope of achieving their target, the South Africans decided to hit out and get as close as possible contrary to their usual blocking tactics. AB de Villiers provided some serious entertainment with a 68-ball 80 which was good enough for one-day cricket, let alone Tests.

For India it was the local hero Virender Sehwag who scored some seriously quick runs and almost finished with centuries in both innings. His part-time offspin however was carted away when he was brought on to bowl in the second innings with most of India's bowlers exhausted.
