Andrew Flintoff's done it again. Flintoff claims that he & Gary Linekar came under Taliban attack during their trip to Afghanistan - Read more.

The timing of this claim is quite questionable. Lets not forget that this is the same Andrew Flintoff who claimed he was shot by a bullet in Delhi in January 2002 but had no proof to validate his ridiculous claims - Read more.

What must be noted that both reports of attacks have come in tandem with Freddie's book launches.

The respect I had for Freddie is diminishing very fast and this comes on the back of this claims saying that his team didn't tour India to show support to the victims of the terror attacks but because their bosses wanted to make a quick buck - Click here.

Seems like absurdity is a routine thing for him when he writes books.

Who's to say everything he claims isn't true?

It's not that surprising really is it? If you go to Afghanistan to meet soldiers there's every chance you'll experience a rocket attack.

He didn't say he was shot by bullets, he said he got shot by a pellet gun. It's pretty believable that if people can smuggle flares into grounds, they could bring in an air gun.

Urm, he did actually get attacked along with Linekar, it was on BBC news. They were giving an award to a medic (think it was called "Pride of Britain" or something like that) and the rocket attack warning system came on. No where did Flintoff try and claim the spotlight, he even said this "It's been humbling and has put my life into perspective. I play cricket for my country - but then you come here and meet people of 18 fighting for their country."

So for all the haters out there and people thinking it was a stunt, you can jog on :)

Why do he need Publicity? he has name, fame. Nope not a Publicity stunt.

can't really say on this.

That still doesn't justify his comments. They weren't really needed, and he happens to open his mouth just when his book is about to be released. He's just trying to get attention. Keep it on the cricket pitch Fred

Agreed. He really needs to keep a check on his tongue & pen. For me, he became a bit of a muppet the moment he said that his team didn't tour India to show support to the victims of the terror attacks but because their bosses wanted to make a quick buck - Click here. Seriously Fred, you have miles to go before learning how to behave in the media.

I find it believable. The ECB would have wanted to play the Tests because of the money it would make them. Straight after the Tests in India, it was announced that relations between the BCCI and the ECB had improved and there were benefits such as the Champions League accepting teams with ICL players and so on. The players wouldn't have gone back to India just to support the victims of the terrorist attacks.

Let's get the record straight on why this stuff is coming out now. Andrew Flintoff has just released his autobiography and the media is serialising it. He's not making any publicity stunts or anything like that, the papers are just putting the juicy bits from his book in the dailies.

I fail to see why this is a publicity stunt. Loads of people go to Afganistan and experience a rocket attack.

There is something called respect. You need to respect people who lost their lives. Australia didnt stay on post the 7/7 blasts in London in 2005 to make a quick buck. They did to show respect to the people who lost their lives. They did not say "Oh, blasts. We are going home and we dont want to come back". They stayed on. And what was the result - They earned respect from every corner of the cricketing world.

What is the big deal if the English cricketers had to come back to India? They should not have publicly said- "We toured because our board wanted to make a quick buck". Can you imagine the implications if Ricky Ponting, MS Dhoni, Graeme Smith, Younus Khan, Dan Vettori or Kumar Sangakarra were to say this if there were a blast in London? The English media and passionate Englishmen would have ripped them apart for saying that. Flintoff going unpunished is a bit of a sham. Its like telling people - "Look, you can go and tell the media that you are touring blah blah country not to show respect to hundreds of innocent people who died there, but because you and your board want to make a quick buck. And don't worry, we won't even reprimand you".

If your opinion that "The players wouldn't have gone back to India just to support the victims of the terrorist attacks" is true, its shameful. Profiteering on a dead man's grave. What has the world come to.

Personally I think the only reason that England stayed in India was to improve relations with India because they had been at quite a low ebb. I personally would have been out of there as soon as I could.
