where does Ross Taylor fall in the all-time list of NZ batsmen? surely knocking on the no.2 spot behind martin crowe.

Hmm fair question, i was wondering myself. I think Glen Turner might still be # 2 & skill wise i would still rate Nathan Astle as the best pure NZ batsman in my lifetime. His 150ball double century vs ENG in 2002 is arguably the best innings a NZ batsman has ever played

Taylor is certainly more talented than Fleming though, then this guy - Martin Donnelly | Cricket Players and Officials | ESPN Cricinfo is highly rated by historians.

Rampaul is apparently not "fit enough" for tests. What a joke!

Ha ye, as i always say the biggest problem with the Windies team is their selectors. Not talent. Some of the team choices they have made in 2013 across all formats has been galling.

Pretty poor game from our batsman really, Windies weren't much better at all. Almost gave us the game, it was a tough pitch to play on but no way was it a 150 all out deck.

Ye NZ batsmen were strangely loose - team still looks good though, especially with Vettori having to slot back somewhere.

Was particularly impressed with Neesham's bowling, NZ have to good looking all-rounder now with him & Anderson for the future. Hopefully for you guys their careers aren't injured plagued like Cairns & Oram

And is McCleneghan just seen as a limited overs bowler? If he can play tests - he would be excellent support to Boult/Southee i think...

Wonderful stuff from Anderson and Ryder, absolutely abysmal from the Windies. You really do have to question whether any of them even want to be here, most of them looked peeved that they have to play here instead of the BBL. There didn't seem to be any kind of plan for the batsman, Bravo just stood by and changed nothing. Even though its great we are winning I really can't wait for this tour to end.

What a way to start the year. Ridiculous batting. Pessimistic to think 8 off the 36 balls he's faced are dots. Great stuff from Ryder too, after what he's been through in 2013 and his nice recent form; tho not too overshadowed by Anderson's knock. Gayle's presence would've put things into the mix, WI did miss him.

I am not in favor of dropping Sammy in all three formats all of a sudden. I think Sammy himself is bewildered about his role in the team. He started off as a specialist bowler who can bat but over the years he has neither been a consistent bowler, nor a consistent batsman. The main reason what looks to me is that he tries to give too much to the team individually and in the end give very little. Looking at the way he has been striking the ball, I am of the opinion that he should give up playing the tests and take up a role similar to Sri Lanka's Angelo Mathews in ODIs and T20Is to utilize his full talent and skill because we all know he can bat and can be a very dangerous batsman in shorter formats and can chip in useful bowling. By being taking up the role I discussed above, he can let the pressure of performing with the ball off; he can bat good anyway. What it will do is give an extra bowling option for the Windies and give the bowling attack more teeth. Not to forget, when batting at #7 , he would mostly be arriving in the situation where he will need to slog which he can do with great precision.
