Media Centre (provided it has been kept up to date) is the same as XP Pro SP2 as far as any program is concerned, they cannot tell the difference and the use of Media Centre has nothing to do with a runtime error. Look for the Visual C runtime (possibly the 2005 version of the runtime), some software I had needed it and worked fine after installing it.
