Ch-ch-changes: DCU release updated schedule
and squads for the 2002 season​

Turn and face the strange. Dansk Cricket-Union (DCU) announced the new domestic schedule and squads for next year's domestic season. They have moved from the Oct-Dec period to the Jan-Mar period. And like we had already mentioned, the number of games have increased to a total of 63 matches, compared to 33 this year, due to the change in the tournament formats.

Hugo Ali terminates central contract to participate
in controversial reality show

In a surprising move, Danish pace all-rounder Hugo Ali terminates his DCU central contract for the 2002 season. That means he won't be available for international selection for the next year. He will still participate in upcoming domestic tournaments as the shooting for the show starts from mid-April. There were rumours that his contract wasn't gonna be renewed for next season as DCU were preferring to bring in left-arm quick, Storm Høj. That decision looks set in stone now. Hugo has been part of the Danish setup since they gained member status from the WCC. He has been in almost all the the squads since Denmark's international cricket but has only managed to play 4 matches (3 ODIs, 1 Test). Many Sjælland fans have questioned why he been treated so pooly while others believe he was never good enough to begin with.

Love Island is a British dating game show. The show is presented by Tanya Strecker and narrated by David Attenborough. The show was previously hosted by both Andrea Elisabeth Rudolph and Sandra Toksvig. The show has been highly successful and influential in Danish popular culture; it became ITV2's most watched show in the network's history in 1999, and as of 2001 was the most watched TV show among its target audience of 16 to 34-year-olds.

However, it has attracted a considerable amount of controversy, with four people linked to the show having died by suicide. Contestants Sophie Gradon and Mike Thalassitis died by suicide after appearing on the programme; Gradon's boyfriend died by suicide about 20 days after her death. The following year the show's original presenter, Caroline Flack, also died by suicide. There have been calls from some to cancel the programme.
