    Australian Domestic Cricket

I watched a T20 club game at North Sydney not too long ago, and couldn't believe how many balls were smashed right out of the ground. NSW chasing the score reminded me of the Wanderers game in 2006, when South Africa got 9/438 and chased Australia's score.

Katich is justifyably dissapointed in my view, and he hasn't got much to lose by having a spray like that. Just imagine getting cut off, when you've been one of the best batsmen in the country; and also when your Cricket Australia contract is a big part of your income.

    Australian Domestic Cricket

The article does have a valid point in that many cricket spectators in Australia might not necesarily support the Australian team. There are a lot of Indian students coming to cricket matches these days ! As much as the purists might roll their eyes, I reckon this season's Big Bash will be a...

Fast bowling isn't dead yet... there are still some pretty good players getting around. I can think of 4 genuine quicks, who all have the potential to take 300 test wickets in their career: Dale Steyn Morne Morkel Stuart Broad Mohammad Amir (he'll still only be 24 once his 5 year ban concludes).

Probably the right thing to do in the interests of Australian cricket.. but if you were Watson wouldn't you follow the money in the IPL? $1.5m for his contract, a lot of people don't earn that amount in their lifetime!

Your Cricket Which do you prefer to play

Shorter than 50 overs is good for me. I used to play matches with each side batting for a 64 over innings (128 overs in a day). I nearly went crazy.

Australia in South Africa Oct-Nov 2011/12

Steve smith is suffering from the allrounder's identity crisis. For years Watson could neither command a place as a batsman or bowler and it really affected his confidence. I think Smith has to make the call now on what to concentrate on. My view is that he should work on his legspin...

    General Cricket Discussion

Cummins needs to be managed very very carefully. In my opinion he should only be considered for t20's and ODI's for now. Cummins has only played 3 first class games, so I don't think he has the necessary experience to bowl spells in the longest format. Plus he is only 18, and has recently...

Your Cricket What cricket bat do you use?

I prefer light bats (less than 2 pounds 9 ounces in my books). However when buying lighter bats, I think you run a higher risk of getting one with a dud sweet spot. I've found that testing the size and 'ping' of the sweet spot is easily done by tapping the face of the bat with a mallet...

    Your Cricket Bowling Action

For a moment there I thought you were serious :facepalm, as Jeff Thomson (which you seem to be a fan of) had a pretty unorthodox delivery stride, not to mention action. Just came across this you tube clip on Jeff Thomson and other fast bowlers of the era, which I found quite interesting. The...

    Your Cricket Bowling Action

Bowling Fast Some good advice on this thread on keeping your momentum going toward the batsman and trying not to fall away in your delivery stride. One piece of advice I would add for a fast bowler is regarding your lean. In your delivery stride, leaning back away from the batsman enables...
