Even big name sports have shitty AI at times, even in what you'd think are pretty basic set plays. E.g. in NHL games when you are on the penalty kill (down a player) you'll typically not attack much, and just play 100% (or 90%) defence. The game has that. But when you are down by a goal with 1...

You're not the first to notice this. In cricket 19 you'd bowl a solid over but almost without fail a boundary would come. Always felt very scripted.

What made it better?

I don't know it affects the AI but I know when batting that on a soft surface I can often leave green "good" lengths and they will bounce over the stumps but on a softer surface I need to be careful as a fuller good length will be stump height. A great aspect of the game! Very satisfying...

I've definitely been bowled and caught LBW. Spinners are particularly dangerous for this, as is playing across the line (e.g. trying a leg glance to a ball on middle that actually swings/seams away, hitting off stump)
