Not to mention those vile idiots threatening Aussie cricketers and their families on social media.
It is just a game and the cricketers are professionals doing their jobs and getting handsome money at this level. Yes, they play with passion but so stupid for fans to throw tantrums like toddlers...
Anyhow, here's my personal analysis:
All things considered and in hindsight, emulating Dhoni was going to be the toughest ask for any Indian captain, because Dhoni was a blip in a radar, who transformed India in world champions in the limited overs format. Since the 90s, India have always had...
Here's some stats that I noticed on seeing the history of the world cup:
Since 1987, Australia have played in 7 finals out of 10 and won 6. Amazing record.
Since 1979, there has only been a single final (2019) between sides that wasn't either Australia or a subcontinent side.
For an unbroken...
Watched cricket for a long time and I remember many Aussie crowds being pretty racist in the past but why do crowds in India always cop the criticism for being biased or unsportsmanlike?
Sure, but that was the most disgraceful exhibition by any crowd in India forcing the match to stop, and awarded to SL. Should not be forgiven or forgotten easily.
I watched and it was extremely tentative batting especially by KL. Pitch was slow yes, but these Indian batsmen are supposed to be extremely familiar with these conditions.
From 8 rpo in 10 overs to less than 5 rpo at the end was not really good enough.
Kohli not so bad, his strike rate was quite high. But KL not able to rotate strike had a negative effect on both.
I said it would be tough to accelerate later and I was proven right.
We are a cricketing nation obsessed by individual records dude. 20 years on we’ll still be celebrating Tendulkar and Kohli’s career rather than our team performances.
Despite all the condolences about having a great tournament etc I feel this is the mood of Indian fans, coming close to World Cup glory this loss does hurt badly. Especially because of playing at home. As Ravi Shastri said it may be several world cups before India get close again.
In hindsight the lack of an all-rounder bit us very hard today, especially for batting. If your batting is too heavy you better get 50s or more from each of the top 4. Our players seemed concerned about wickets falling early and simply froze.
I keep saying and said it before the KOs that semis and finals should be day games. Well played Australia but the conditions really changed under lights for batting.
