I simmed 3 games. Identical pitch, line ups, conditions, stadiums. I also made the pitch as terrible as I could. Started the match as a knackered up dusty/grassy day 5 strip with fast wear and heavy cracks. Basically, a death trap, and wanting both teams to be skittled dirt cheap. I changed...

    Hutton's Heroes - The 1954/55 Ashes

1st Test - Brisbane Series tied 0-0 AUS 440 all out - Keith Miller 121 & 262 all out - Arthur Morris 70 ENG 380 all out - Bill Edrich 103 & 322 all out - Peter May 110 MATCH TIED Fittingly for a match that ebbed and flowed across all five days, England and Australia opened the 1954/55 Ashes...

I've not used it save for getting a few classic 1950's teams, but I don't remember any of the loading being out of the ordinary. Hope you're doing good

It was custom sliders based on my slider spreadsheet, with a few tweaks. That is a mix of difficulties. NZ ended up absolutely pounding them, strangely. Team ratings were pretty even and I was bowling for teams.

    Cricket 24 - General Discussion

In my general experience, and Cricket 24 "appears" little different, is that your best chance of a looper up from any kind of top edge is something that also hits the body or helmet to stop it flying over everyone. That or a glove from a pull or hook, I've had that a few times as well.

    Hutton's Heroes - The 1954/55 Ashes

1st Test - Brisbane Series tied 0-0 AUS 440 all out - Keith Miller 121 ENG 380 all out - Bill Edrich 103 Australia set about posing England a challenging fourth innings run chase late on day three of what is developing into an enthralling opening Test of this 1954/55 Ashes series. As expected...

    Hutton's Heroes - The 1954/55 Ashes

1st Test - Brisbane Series tied 0-0 AUS 440 all out - Keith Miller 121 England's reply to Australia's 440 effort got off to a commanding start as captain Len Hutton and fellow opener Reg Simpson set about building a solid foundation for the innings. Putting on 74 for the opening wicket, both...

Looks like a cracker! Not as close as the most recent game I had on C22 tho :grinning: I see deskilling teams has been mentioned again, made me chuckle. Sun rise, sun set....

    Hutton's Heroes - The 1954/55 Ashes

1st Test - Brisbane Series tied 0-0 With the Brisbane pitch looking a fair one, unlike many of the era, both teams fancied their chances of getting off to a good start in the series. England approached the game with the formidable pace trio of Alec Bedser, Frank Tyson and Brian Statham, the...

    Hutton's Heroes - The 1954/55 Ashes

So after getting back into Cricket 22 recently, I figured I'd dive into something to scratch my itch. And using @Mouseydread's classic teams from the Academy, I'm recreating the famous 1954/55 Ashes series in Australia. I'm bowling as both teams so I have no real stake in which side wins...

    Cricket 24 - General Discussion

Interesting to see this is still the case. I think I only ever did Play Now and added my own depth and realism via external narrative on Cricket 22. Doing the same now in fact, now I'm back into it. The games can deliver good cricket. They just fall down in so many other places. Fortunately...

    Cricket 24 - General Discussion

Interesting. For English conditions, which is a grassy pitch (From loosely following the forum all pitches are grassy at the moment?!), the default custom sliders for Cricket 22 had shot force 32 and ball bounce at 30. So not far off, or very little has changed. Depending how cynical you want...

I fancy doing a bit of writing to give my next series a bit of flavour, but as this particular area of the forum feels like a total ghost town, it seems like I'd be doing it largely for myself haha Anyone still around these parts and interested in reading? If so, pipe up, otherwise I'll keep it...

Did some simming: Taylor and Nicholls put on 270 and could have been out 10 times each, easily. Probably more. Was a bit bizarre. Bowled to start the SA 2nd innings, got Elgar to edge to gully within 3 overs. No idea what the NZ boys got so many lives, idk. Still, fun was had. Now to decide...

Well, this looks like fairly comfortable victory is on the cards. I've bowled as both teams, I've not changed any sliders between innings either. Couldn't be more different. South Africa batted and aside from Elgar and Markram who put on nearly 100, did very little. Nearly every chance...

Bowled South Africa out this morning, 5 for 60 odd for Boult, and refreshingly a non-OP effort from Santner as the only spinner. 2 for 35. The only nonsense that occurred was something I'd run into on 22 before then forgotten about, tailenders who stick around to help the AI post a decent...

Well, 22 has its claws back into me now, so stranger things have happened. Seems the 22 numbers still have some value, anyway!

    Cricket 24 - General Discussion

You make a good point. What you could do with is some sort of thread where you can chat about sliders and feed into a decent, shared list of values that make the game better to play for all. Seems like a solid suggestion to me!

Poor afternoon session from the AI. To say they were about 100-1 in the final over before lunch, they're now 167-7 at tea. Still, need to have both teams bat before any judgements are made, but South Africa have largely fallen apart. This one was lovely tho, highly enjoyable. Just looks...

No sympathy for anyone trying to cheese the game by leaping all over the crease. Excellent decision :clap
