Thanks, I think I found the reason for the crash. There was a bug which would corrupt the file if you saved more than once. I've updated the editor. Try the newer version.
.NET framework is not required. Download it again. I have uploaded a newer version. If you still get the error download the Visual C++ 2008 redistributable.

I was a bit off with my estimate. There are exactly 342 field placement variations.
You are right about there being too many variations. Just browsed through it quickly and there are more than 350 variations for all formats and bowler types combined.
Didn't get what you mean. The AI is supposed to tackle all kinds of situations; hence the numerous field variations. 5-6 unique variations per tactic would mean less variety in field settings employed by the AI.
