Sri Lanka in South Africa Dec-Jan 2011/12

Deary me, calm down. No-one is criticising your precious IPL. I think it a shame if an IPL contract gets in the way of him coming to Somerset, that's all.

Hehe, wonder if they promised him green wickets at Taunton :) Well done Somerset for moving quickly. Shame if the IPL gets in the way.

2011 Review - How this year was for Cricket?

Hehe To be fair they can come under the batsman category nowadays. Was Ponting's DRS umpire spat in 2011?

The PlanetCricket View: How much more sweeping can the Aussies do?

Ooh, wouldn't mind a day or two off work to watch Lions-Oz A. Will look out for that. Did anyone impress against Zimbabwe? I think the trick is to make it a virtual trial for the test team and see how they respond to the pressure and still show good team spirit, leadership etc.

    Your Cricket Sledging Thread

Witty banter is great, part of the game. Temporary loss of control is not great but can be understood in the heat of battle. Beyond that? I wouldn't say anything to anyone I wouldn't say to them 1:1 alone. For me, any other way is hiding behind the game and cowardice in my opinion. Sledgers...

The PlanetCricket View: How much more sweeping can the Aussies do?

One of the good things about England's resurgence in my opinion has been the smart use of the A/Lions team. Rather than an old county pro team it's become a test bed for young talent that have to deal with some testing conditions and decent competition. Wonder if Oz are doing anything...

Your Cricket What cricket bat do you use?

Here's mine... SLAZENGER V200 County Adult Cricket Bat – Millet Sports My eldest lad has a rather expensive taste in specialist English bat manufacturers and has just moved from a Salix to a Woodstock. Both beautiful.

    cricketing mythbusters

I'm going to stop staring at stats now, but never realised his first test ton was 365*. He must have been gutted afterwards, knowing that his career had peaked so early :(

    cricketing mythbusters

In the '58 tour of India he scored 142* batting at 3 in the first test, 198 batting at 4 in the second test and 106* batting at 6 in the third test :D Maybe he was too accommodating to his skippers for his own good?

    Most under-rated cricketers

I find Dean Headley is often under-rated and lumped in with various English failures of that era. It was actually injury that did for him and halted a pretty promising start in which he performed well and got some good players out... Bowling records | Test matches | Cricinfo Statsguru | ESPN...

    cricketing mythbusters

I imagine many of us who weren't watching cricket in that era have been through a similar journey of hearing about Sobers' all-round prowess and, when we see his stats, being surprised at how good his batting looks in comparison to a pretty mediocre set of bowling figures. If I was to...

    Glenn McGrath Vs Wasim Akram?

I guess when McGrath was tossed the new ball we always had the option of closing our eyes and pretending it was Akram bowling :) Hello, by the way.
