    Ashes 2010 - Dull or exciting ?

As an Aussie fan it's been a great series. We were outplayed the entire series and it was shattering to lose. But we got to see a group of guys at the top of their games play some outstanding cricket. And they got to take us down a peg or two. That's a good thing for cricket I have to say. Well...

What would you do with Australian cricket?

    1. I'd sack the others since they have been there for a long time, and look at the state we are in. I'd see what Chappell can do with a decent period of time, and Hilditch, Boon and co not breathing down his neck. 2. I'm a fan of both. What can I say. They both talk about the failings of the...

Who would you want to lead Australia cricket out of the doldrums?

And this is what I want for players. Post series for Sri Lanka, this is what I think the make up of the Australian sides should look something like: Test: Watson Hughes Khawaja Ponting (c) Clarke (vc) Ferguson Haddin Smith Johnson Bollinger Copeland Ponting goes to 5 but keeps the captaincy...

What would you do with Australian cricket?

LOL! No way! Whoever takes charge of this is already going to be stuck between a rock and a hard place. I think a lot of the Australian public are going to be very impatient with any changes. Not so much the true cricket fans such as us on here, because we understand how much work is required...

Who would you want to lead Australia cricket out of the doldrums?

LOL! I know it's a little left field. What I wanted though is a few people who have been part of a rebuilding process and ideally a fresh, recently retired player that can bring an outsider's perspective. Giles fits the bill perfectly. Colly would be perfect as fielding coach I think. He has...

What would you do with Australian cricket?

Started a thread earlier in the Ashes Series forum but I'm happy to go with this one! Better spot anyway.... This is how I would structure it - at least for the moment. Processes will take far longer to plan. Director of Cricket - Allan Border National Development Manager - Rod Marsh...

How highly should Dale Steyn be rated?.

He's well on his way to all time great status, if he isn't already there. Probably needs another 3 - 5 years of consistent wicket taking to cement his spot though. What I love about him is he just rips in all day. I nearly think he would be a better bowler if he slowed it down a touch in the...

    Greatest All-Rounder Since Sobers

Both are very different cricketers. Khan was always the leader, the icon, charismatic, the inspiration, the heartbeat of Pakistani cricket - even today. That's an exceedingly rare thing to have and something that few people in history - in any profession, field or other - have had. Kallis is...

Who would you want to lead Australia cricket out of the doldrums?

As the title says, what would you do and who would you have? This is how I would structure it - at least for the moment. Processes will take far longer to plan. Director of Cricket - Allan Border National Development Manager - Rod Marsh Selection Panel: Chairman - Greg Chappell John...

Dec 3-7: 2nd Test: Australia v England at the Adelaide Oval

North's last batting performances: 0,20,16,0,0,10,128,3,1 Yep... He's a shining beacon of success..

Dec 3-7: 2nd Test: Australia v England at the Adelaide Oval

I think it's more about potential with North. The other have all got that BIG innings in them or the ability to take a game away from England. Or both. North has scored rare centuries of no great total on mostly (all?) flat tracks. And not at key moments.

Dec 3-7: 2nd Test: Australia v England at the Adelaide Oval

Hilfenhaus for mine. If Siddle doesn't continue his first Test then drop him too. Then we can bring in Copeland or George:D

Bollinger. I like Harris a lot but Bollinger has been there before.

First he has to become a Shield quality bowler.:yes

Dec 3-7: 2nd Test: Australia v England at the Adelaide Oval

I'd go: Watson Katich/Hughes (if Katich is out) Ponting Clarke/Khawaja (if Clarke is out) Hussey Haddin Smith Doherty Siddle/Harris Hilfenhaus Bollinger That gives us the luxury of dual spinners in tandem, four seamers and the chance to blood a couple of youngsters. Hussey deserves another...

Nov 25-29: 1st Test: Australia v England at Brisbane

Does anyone else find pitches that lack personality boring? It should be a test for 5 days, not score 100 runs a session. I loved the days when the batsman had to work for runs and the bowler had to hit the right spot for wickets.

Some of the greats have been picked after playing few first class games.

Nov 25-29: 1st Test: Australia v England at Brisbane

These guys can do better. Just give them a chance. This is the problem with Australian cricket. Picking 32,33 and 34 year olds who are Ponting's mates over a young guy. At least if you drop a young guy he can come back later a la Martyn and Hayden and you can develop them into much, much better...

Nov 25-29: 1st Test: Australia v England at Brisbane

So if none of them are setting the world on fire, and North isn't performing and hasn't done so, what do you do? Play with 10 players? Or pick the young guy who can still grow rather than stop gap replacements? Smith, Khawaja and Ferguson are all gifted players who can potentially play for...

Nov 25-29: 1st Test: Australia v England at Brisbane

Did I say pick all kids? I said replace North with one of Smith, Khawaja or Ferguson. And replace Johnson with Bollinger. That's hardly a bunch of kids.
