Looks like Rashid has gone back to his old action and looks so much better than he has done. The question is if he gonna get enough overs for Yorkshire.
My team:
Cook
Robson
Bell
Root
Ballance
Stokes/Ali
Prior
Rashid
Jordan
Broad
Anderson
I would be tempted to gamble with Rashid or Borthwick. I just feel that if they carry on playing county cricket they will decline and become batsmen who can bowl a few overs. Most county teams will focus on seam bowling due to conditions and spinners (leg spinners especially) will become...
Stepping in dangerous territory there Colin! :p
You'd expect England to win but the pitch is still very slow and hard to take wickets on. If Australia can bat for a long period and be willing to graft to make runs, then they still have a chance.
England choke again in a 50 over tournament final. Well played to India, but that was disappointing. It's going to get harder and harder for England to win a trophy now. 1987 World Cup, 2004 Champions Trophy, and now this. We're in the same position as South Africa now!
Anderson's bowled well, but Broad and Finn have pretty poor. This all goes back to last year against SA from what I remember. Just been totally innocuous.
This should give the Aussies something to savior after a disappointing series whitewash. This has really been quite pathetic really. We need to bat out of our skin (and more) to save this game.
The problem with Compton is he seems to get stuck. Like a lot of England batsmen in the Sub Continent, he doesn't have the ability to rotate the strike. 29 off 90 is too slow on pitches with turn and bounce. You should have at least 40 by then.
This will probably see him move counties at the end of the season. It is a shame really, since he was a promising prospect when he first came into FC cricket and I think he's been a victim of poor management. You look at various things, such as how his action has changed over the years and...
This series will be a test to see if England are really making improvements in ODI cricket. I have to be honest, I still have my doubts about some our batsmen on slow pitches. Cook, Trott, Bopara and Bell have all had history struggling on slow pitches. The slower bowlers will be crucial as...
Lyon's action reminds me a lot of Gareth Batty, since he just moves side-on at the point of delivery. He's not a big spinner of the ball but he looks pretty accurate and he can certainly do a job. Australia will need to stick with now while they build there side up.
Disappointed that Taylor didn't make the squads after performing for the Lions. Hopefully he'll replace Bell in the future, who has yet to convince me he's an ODI player.
I'm still skeptical about Cook and Trott in the top three. They're not aggressive enough for the power-play overs, so...
Lord's, unless we get a sporting pitch, should be a draw. It generally gets easier to bat on as the game goes on and I'm not sure both bowling attacks will be able to get 20 wickets. It might suit India though because its certainly a lot closer to the wickets at home.
Broad is a real concern. I can see why England would want him in the side because he's a more unpredictable bowler that Finn and that provides variety in the attack. But he needs to perform soon or he'll have to be left out.
The teams look very even at the moment, both sides have got...
You're not basing that assumption based on one series, are you? The rankings will tell you that he's the No 2 bowler (and No 1 spinner) in the world.
Swann will be a huge factor later in the summer when the pitches start to wear. He's probably the only spinner in the world ATM that can...
You can't blame the IPL for the players' lack of preparation. It's Jayawardene's Sangakarra's responsibility to be there early and acclimatise.
I thought England bowled well and Sri Lanka were very poor. They have only themselves to blame.
