2016/17 KFC Big Bash League

The KFC Big Bash League or BBL in short, is the Australian domestic Twenty20 cricket tournament. KFC Big Bash League was established in 2011.

The Big Bash League replaced the previous competition, the KFC Twenty20 Big Bash. BBL features city-based franchises instead of the state teams which had participated previously. The competition is currently sponsored by fast food chicken outlet KFC.

Out of the 8 teams in the tournament, three have won the title at least once. The Perth Scorchers are the most successful team in the league's short history, winning the title consecutively for two years and have reached the final of the tournament in every season except in 2015/16.

The other three teams which have won the title are Sydney Sixers, Brisbane Heat and recently, Sydney Thunder.

Earlier, the top two teams in the tournament used to qualify for the Champions League Twenty20 tournament. Now they don't because the Champions League Twenty20 tournament has been shelved.​

Equal contest between the bat and the ball, generally nothing on offer for the spinners.

Great for pace bowlers and teams batting first.

Beautiful wicket to bat on, and it occasionally has something for the spinners.

Normal pitch, suits the batsmen and the bowlers equally.
