Kolkata Knight Riders' esteemed lineup has considerably underdelivered in such a momentous occasion - they've been bowled-out for a mediocre 225 in the first semi-final.
Joe Root and Virat Kohli were once again put under scrutiny after failing to go big after starting well and getting settled-in. Joe Root's blitz up-top were somewhat laudable.

Devon Conway's 55-ball 60 (40 of which came exclusively in fours) was the only definitive highlight of the innings in an otherwise underwhelming (to put it mildly) innings.
Shaheen Afridi, Navdeep Saini and Ravindra Jadeja shined with the ball - but none more so than Washington Sundar. He claimed three crucial wickets at crucial occasions.

Kolkata Knight Riders came out guns blazing in defense of 226 - but Suryakumar Yadav and Ambati Rayudu ensured the win Rajasthan Royals' bowlers had set them up for.
Rajasthan Royals will be defending their title at their own backyard - it's not lights out for Kolkata Knight Riders either as they have a second chance in the second semi-final.

A target of 226 runs simply wasn't enough - and even though Kolkata Knight Riders had the battery to run through Rajasthan Royals, it was never going to be an easy task.
In the end, Suryakumar Yadav and Ambati Rayudu ran away with the game in arguably the most lopsided affair these two teams have had against each other in IODC history.

The batsmen finished what our bowlers started which means we are one step away from defending our title which has been our ultimate goal. Guptill was great at the start and Rayudu played a very cunning knock where he wasn't at his best but stayed there while Suryakumar Yadav was scoring at a good pace.

Brilliant team work which is what this team is known for. And which is why we are where we are now. One win away to what will be a perfect season for us more so without MSD the captain. Jadeja has been a superb leader, the team wants to add another trophy in our cabinet!

Hopefully we do just that on the day of the finale.

We'll go same for this big Semi-final match. Just suits the balance of our side irrespective of the conditions and the opposition. No point in breaking the winning combination.

I am hopeful that we beat KKR and move into the Finals.

Mumbai Indians seemed poised for a 360+ target but timely wickets held them back by 10-15 runs as they finish with 342/5 - how valuable are those 10-15 runs going to be?
Apart from getting Rohit Sharma - Kolkata Knight Riders never really found any breathers at the start of the innings with Ishan Kishan and Prithvi Shaw leading the charge.

Both their frontline spinners - Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Amit Mishra not only went wicketless, but were walloped all over by Mumbai Indians' batsmen - the latter in particular.
Mohammed Shami and Bhuvneshwar Kumar weren't particular economical either - but they were amongst some crucial wickets. Bhuvneshwar Kumar picked-up two wickets.

Mitchell Starc was the most-economical bowler and contributed with arguably the most-important wicket - that of Rohit Sharma, in only the third over of the innings, no less.
Ross Taylor top-scored, missing his hundred by only 3 runs. Prithvi Shaw and Ishan Kishan laid the base and Aditya Tare and Colin de Grandhomme put they cherry on top.

Hope that 15-20 runs don't come to prick us in the end after all that effort of 16 matches.

Unfortunate for Rohit to miss out here.

@Na Maloom Afraad with his magic as always, never fails to leave a mystery behind.

MI has a knack of bouncing back from the bottom and this run is somewhat similar with what I see. @NILAYSHAH60 awesome job with managing the team so exceptionally...

I think we've got a pretty good score on the board. I don't think we would lose this unless there's some disastrous performance. I feel we are good enough to make it to the Final from this stage. Let us wait and see what happens.

Comprehensive win but a close one nonetheless. Kolkata Knight Riders win with 6 wickets and 6 deliveries to spare - courtesy of two of the best top-order knocks you'll see.
Devon Conway's 85-ball 101 alongside Virat Kohli's masterclass which saw him fall short of his fourth hundred of the season by just 1 run were the definitive game changers.

Mumbai Indians' bowlers were ineffective - especially their spin-bowlers. Both sides' spinners failed to produce wickets but Mumbai Indians took a bigger blow because of it.
Veer Pratap Singh went wicketless and was on the expensive side of things - Colin de Grandhomme picked-up a scalp but he wasn't all that effective economically either.

Jofra Archer returned the best figures with 2 scalps to his name. In an act of desperation, he was bowled-out in search of wickets within the 40th-over, but it didn't pay off.
After Cheteshwar Pujara and Joe Root's stand, Dinesh Karthik finished the job - Kolkata Knight Riders vs Rajasthan Royals is the 2021 Indian One-Day Championship final.
