I cant believe Rahul is being criticized for his reaction at the ball going for a six instead of a four, so that he could get his hundred. Its not like it hurt the team who won 52 balls to spare in what was their first game in a 9-game league stage. I was disappointed that he overtimed that shot and couldnt get his 100. Wish he got that! Everyone's reactions (even the commentators) showed their disappointment rightfully that KLR didnt get to that deserved hundred.

Excellent innings from him and arguably his BEST EVER innings in his career. And a very good one from Virat too!

Commentators can have favourites.

My final cent on the KLR debate: He played well and had every right to go for his century and be disappointed until the winning runs.

The fact that he spoke about it at the post match ceremony shows how selfish he is. Deserves every bit of angst diverted towards his for his juvenile reactions(even Jaiswal or any U-19 player wouldn't react in this manner)

Just assume a scenario where he hits the winnings runs in a World Cup Final and falls short of his century. Imagine if he reacts in the same manner-Would you still back him? I certainly wouldn't.

This where guys like Kohli & Pandya are different from him, but classy knock though.

Team comes first, no matter what.

Sorry, but Calling KL selfish for that really amusing reaction is utter bs. Just hate for the sake of hating if that's the only thing you can talk about in a crucial match winning knock

He clearly calculated that he will get to the target in two deliveries with a 4 and a 6 (this would have have no impact on the result or the NRR). And his calculations failed. Hence the reaction. It's very natural and normal. Nothing sinister or selfish about it.

Bottomline: he played one of the best knocks of his life coming in at 2/3 and has helped his team to a winning start against an A lister team

I am KL's biggest critic ever but this inning, this partnership was amazing. HE played amazing and I wish he would have gotten that 100, he truly deserved it. Kohli is Kohli and I am never worried about him but KL came back big time. Probably the injury and time away from game was exactly that was needed for him. I just hope the management does no tinkering and let him bat where he is.

I believe Simon Doull did call out KLR's pathetic behaviour. All KL did at the end was to show that milestones still matter in India. It is not the case with other players and surely Virat wouldn't have cared about it.

Yes, one cannot take away the fact that he batted well, but to finish the game on a sour note is just not on.

As I said previously,he had a shot at his 100 until the winning runs. Cannot be disappointed for not getting a 100. The fellow even had the aduacity to speak about it in the post match. Fails me how people are defending that act of KLs

People are being really harsh on KLR, If I was a Indian fan I would have loved for him to get a century. End of the day he kept his wicket and won India the game when they were on 2 runs with 3 wickets down, so I am not sure why people are pissed off at him just because he got a bit upset that he could finish the game with a century which he deserved.

Because he rescued the team from a precarious position on a tough pitch and saw his side home?

You’re just being bitter about this because you have a hatred of the bloke. Especially if you’re bringing in Doull of all people to pile on him.

From what I’ve seen on social media it’s been laughs at the way he reacted and an acknowledgment that he did do well and was unfortunate to not get a century.
