3TC : Cricket South Africa launching new game format.

I never really expected the Kites to score 58/1 in 6 overs. I felt they were the weakest side batting wise. So the Eagles so far have scored the most runs at the end of first half i.e 66/1 followed by Kites 58/1 and Kingfishers have scored the least being 56/2. I get a feeling that at the end of the game Kites would emerge victorious unless AB de Villiers plays out a special innings.

I underestimated just how confusing this actually is.

On another note, transitioning from Sony's no ads and top notch analysis of the test to whatever this mid-game show is supposed to be feels very jarring to say the least. Hearing and watching Manjrekar speak is only adding to it. :(

I saw an explainer by Mark Nicholas which helped me get the idea and also amused me to think he's just wandering around a park making up cricket matches in his head. :lol

Also for anyone around the world, here are your broadcasters. Second half is about to begin.

The one thing I can relate to is the last man standing. Brings back memories of running back and forth frantically. Interesting that AB de Villiers is playing too when he could have easily dropped out. Makes a return to the national team more likely now that his pals are there too.

Looks like it could be a good format for kids. Bit of batting, bowling and fielding.

I like the guys with nets and crash helmets in the stands.

Inside edges and getting beaten by some odd deliveries have continued with AB de Villiers in this match and he still manages to score at a rate close to 200 and above. I guess it is to be accepted that De Villiers have probably lost his best nick but tbh he is still the best player that the Proteas have atm.

There is definite potential in this format. The lack of fielders does encourage you to be more proactive on the field. Having this down in youth cricket might bring you more Jadejas and Maxwells with rocket arms for throws.

Haven't watched the first 'half' but if this is true I wouldn't accept him being the best batsman South Africa have (not that I would given how inadequate he was in the BBL). de Kock to me is better at the moment but AbD still could play a role assuming the rest of the team is okay with it.

The best thing about this format is that it keeps you engrossed and probably would excites you with the thought that what is going to unfold.

Imagine someone like Kohli, Azam or Williamson in this format with the lack of fielders. Can hit the boundaries if required but will just pick up twos and threes at will instead.

Oh yes, how on Earth did I miss out on De Kock ? :facepalm

Certainly good practice for boundary fielding. It seems a bit too much of a thankless task for fielding and bowling teams. Not sure if they need another fielder or two.

I don't know if it'd take off professionally but you could see how 3 or more teams could tour around various grounds. Depending on future restrictions it seems possible that you'd need players to remain in a bubble as has happened in the UK.

I'm genuinely confused if I love or hate Ntini's commentary. Man's energy is so infectious to say the least.
