5th Test: England vs Australia at the Brit Oval

I have a new team for the 5th test:

Strauss
Trescothick
Vaughan
Ramprakash
Hick
Stewart
Flintoff
Caddick
Cork
Harmison
Gough

omfg. If Trescothick plays it will be amazing. Chances are he's still mental but an on form Trescothick would be amazing and would complete the top order.

Ramps is a bottler, just like Bell, just like Bopara. He has averaged 100 but he even managed to bottle his 100th 100 a few times.

"Marcus has many times said he's retired from international cricket, and until I hear contrary to that, he will not be a part of the selection process," Miller told Cricinfo

If he say's he's available we may see him.

its becoming a bit of a circus as far as i can see; we will be digging up w.g. grace next - it isnt going to help us bringing in one test wonders

It's the stock standard answer you give, all the eligible players in County Cricket are a part of the selection process. Plus Trescothick confirmed with a local newspaper this week that he won't come out of retirement so he would have to do a serious backflip which hardly ever happens.

What makes me laugh about Ramps is he always was in good county form and only for a short while looked Test class. Key looks Test class against nomark countries, Bopara likewise.

Maybe the ECB could scratch a couple of weeks worth of county matches and have England vs ROW vs England wannabes in a triangular tournament of say 3 day matches. Obviously county cricket isn't sorting out the quality from the dross in terms of runs.

Let's plan ahead, not just for the present but with the future in mind and not the past. Let's face it, selecting gramps or key would be looking at the present with the past in mind.

My team:

1. Andrew Strauss (capt)
2. Alistair Cook
3. Rob Key
4. Paul Collingwood
5. Jonathan Trott
6. Matt Prior
7. Andrew Flintoff
8. Stuart Broad
9. Graeme Swann
10. James Anderson
11. Graham Onions

Cook out for 4. Ravi out for 1. Vs Middlesex at Lord's.

So if Trott does well for the Lions we could quite possibly see him in the last test then. Bopara can't be retained now, surely.
