Any Improvements?

You have to go all the way to your profile to see post count. Bad idea mods I like to spot the milestoners and my own as well.

Just stop your whining. Why does everyone care about their post count so much anyway?

Im my opinion, user rating/ranking should have been visible...

Notice how its most of the younger members?

Maybe they don't have anything more to do than store up reps and spam posts, I dunno, PC needed this. Maybe now we can have some quality instead of spammy little 12 year olds.

Wow way to make the forum look ugly, horrible decision and hope that you realise it sooner than later. Also seems whm runs things round here these days.

My God little fellas, if you miss you're post count so much just constantly change your AKA to the amount of posts you have. And if that doesn't work for you, go outside and make some friends.

Well I hate naming names, Kev. But I for one, keep getting the two Shan's, muddled up, and Pranav and some other guy muddled up, even though I do know who they are. (How dumb do I sound now  :p)

Regarding new members, I don't think that is too true. Look at people like Mani (Dr. Pepper) They are recent members and he is already pretty popular

I'm unique, I needed post count, their avatars used to look quite similar but PranavPathak has way more posts.

You are confused between me & whom? I don't find anybody like me in the whole forum. :p

On topic : As I said before, I doubt mods will change their decission as they usually dicuss the changes first in the staff forum before implementing them. Therefore, the dicusion is useless. The new changes have both positives & negetives. Mods felt that it had more positives so they implemented them.

Plenty of other big forums don't have viewable post counts, some triple the member base of here and it's no problem. As for whm, we've got a 6-page thread on this current issue in the Staff forum, whm is doing a lot of the changes, as he is best at it, but it was far from just his input. I don't think many of you realise how much work he puts into PC. This recent set of upgrades is still a work in progress and we are far from completed and are willing to listen to any ideas you have.

That's the exact reason we got rid of it in the on-screen profile. You still have a post count, it's just not instantly viewable. Milestone thread was silly, it turned from being 100, 250, 500, 1000, etc to things like 160 posts, 430, etc. Milestones aren't important because post count isn't important, that's why it's no longer a part of the main viewing page.

If something doesn't work we would remove it, but as you say, we do discuss things, the pros, cons, etc and some things get tested in the testing forums. This discussion isn't useless because this is your forum and your input is wanted.

I would say that removing the rep indicator does make it a bit less easy to spot trouble making members. Seeing a big line of red was an easy way to instantly know that you are probably wasting your time communicating with them.

Problem with that Kev is that reps had gone quite far from meaning anything. My last 10 reps: I'd say about 4/5 had any relevance to a good post I'd made. But we are working on this part of the forum...

This'll be a good test to see if staff listen to the members. The removal of post count has been met with mostly negative feedback. I for one hate it, I have no idea out of the newer members who is who

Firstly, we always listen to you. I'd disagree with your statement, I think it's been quite a mixed response, which was what we expected, really. But I think it's something that will take a while to get used to. I should mention again, that you can see someone's post count by simply clicking on their profile. People were too focused on increasing their post count, we're not interested in the quantity of posts, we want quality posts (something which you cited in your feedback thread as being poor at the moment, was quality of posts, Tom) and we feel this is one way of dealing with it.

To answer your last point (as it was aimed at me) not sounding like a hormonal woman who can't make her mind up, but I thought the actual quality of posts had really improved since that thread was created.

But meh, I ain't gonna get too worked up over it, I've got to try and work out how to play this Indian spinner before training in a couple of hours :(

Throw everything at it, including the kitchen sink, or in your case, the fridge ;)

I honestly believe that removing post count from main forum view will be a really good decision, but it will take a while to get used to.

Oh I completely agree, but I do think negative reps are given usually for the right reasons. Luckily people with a great big long red bar don't tend to stay around for long anyway.
