Thats a lot of runs you scored there Murali, hopefully you dont get to post similar scores every other game. Good luck with the bowling, also were you able to deal with the yorkers pretty well? It looks like you did. Tim was saying it was pretty hard to block the yorkers. Also I see you were able to hit sixes quite easily, for some reason I cant even hit one.

I think this is probably my first time crossing 300 using one of your patches.

This match I concentrated very hard on finding my timing so that I do not get out. For yorkers, I just use the D button without using Shift. I was able to pretty much block all the yorkers. For hitting 6's I used the same ploy but with the 6 hit button. I did not try to hit yorkers bowled at my legs out of the ground. It always goes through and hits my stumps. I go after balls which are pitched further up very close to the stumps, when I think I can accelerate further or when I feel I can lose a wicket without bothering my strategy.

In this game, it all worked out - Plain and simple and I waited for the ball to come to me.

Ravi,

England started off well in pursuit of the score against the fast bowlers, but then they are losing wickets regularly and seem to have a hard time finding the gaps in the field against spinners. They are currently 156/5 after 30 overs.

I do not have the updated rosters. So, it is the original set of players that the game came with. Just to let you know if that makes any difference.

[EDIT] The following is a fact; but ignore this for now. Will explain later.

There seems to be two problems against the spinners Ravi.

One is that the batsmen fail to connect bat to ball at least 2 out of the 6 balls that a spin bowler bowls.

The next problem is that between the 20th and the 35th over, if they do connect, half the number of times, it goes straight to the fielder.

It may be a problem with the type of batsman too. For example, Andy Flintoff was playing very well but Andy McGrath was playing like I said earlier in this post.

One thing to note is that the CPU is maintaining a good run-rate. Just because I scored 336, the required run-rate is increasing, which also makes me believe that the CPU is not playing too well. Let us wait till the end of the match to have a more accurate picture of what is happening.

Till then...

Ravi,

I have completed my match. The final scorecard looks like:

So, my final comments are this:

The CPU did bat really well. I bowled with a lot of concentration not to let the CPU get too many runs. The fact that they were able to score 248 in 45.2 overs is in itself a great achievement and kudos to you for that effort.

My only gripe is that the CPU could have batted a "little" better against the spinners, first of all run-rate wise and next regards to losing wickets.

Otherwise everything worked out really well. Great Job Ravi.

It pretty much seems to be perfect right Murali. Just got to make sure you wont be able to score 300+ every other time. When I played one of the game as NZ against Australia, Australia tore my bowling hence I reduced the aggression level of CPU. Even otherwise, CPU would have accelarated in the last couple of overs it it had wickets on hand. At the moment I think we cannot conclude CPU loses wickets against as you have bolwed 3 spinners in the game even then the rpo was around 5.5 which is not all that bad. Maybe we have to go back to the version you played against SA, that may just sort out the less aggression towards spinners issue.

Ravi,

I am using the same version of your patch that I used against SA. I did not upgrade to the next version where you said the CPU will not be as good.

Currently, I am playing the next World Series match against Australia and I am batting first again. I am certainly finding batting more difficult against the famed Australian bowling lineup. So, I am expecting Australia to win. I hope that I can bowl well once again to gain the win over Australia.

But, your patch is working really well. I would never have thought that I will be able to play competitive cricket using Cricket 2004.

Thanks for that,

In that case you should try the one uploaded last although the CPU may not be as aggressive as the other one it may not throw its wicket away. Either way mate, its good to know you are having a good time with these patches. Long may it continue.

Thanks Ravi. I will continue with this patch for the entire series and try to judge whether I need to upgrade or not.

Straw, any particular reason why you want to see more edges for these two shots mate. I thought the number of edges are good enough???

I just think it would make the game more realistic as most edges in real life come from the straight and especially the cover drive.
