TENNIS AO Tennis

Gave it a go tonight and personally I like the new patch. You feel a lot more in control of the shots now, even though that takes a while to get used to. I am currently in rd 3 of the aus open in my career. Anderson just won the set 6-4 but I wasted quite a few break opportunities, 4 iirc.

Playing with the sliders definitely works and ramping the ball speed up has made it much nicer.

And @zimrahil the first 2 points ai hit it into the net and hit it out long. So it's there.

Oh no doubt it’s there, it’s just the percentage of balls hit out that are wide compared to balls hit long/net needs to be better proportioned imo

Do you have any issues with player movement around the court and players getting stuck once you hit a shot button? That includes on the return of serves. And how do you find shot timing? Do you find it easy to time the ball on the green? Feels like there is not much margin for error (more unforced errors) or is it just me? :) lol

If you mean @JohnnyDGaming89 then I think that’s harsh. He has played game since its inception in January so has had to put up with game in poor state initially and I find his opinion to be well balanced usually
Put it this way, I know the main issues he raises resonates with the developer.....
Totally agree it’s alittle harsh, Everyone has an opinion and he seems to always get asked to give his. I find his opinion to fair and balanced but that’s just me. I don’t always agree and I fine the game better than he does but that’s just me some people are different I guess :)

mikeymerren:-

Great new build, the whole gameplay really is lovely at present.

Did you get the chance to start implementing the sidespin/curving of shots into this build as yet, you told us a few weeks ago that you want to start getting that into the game to really be seen on ground strokes.
working on it, want to try and sort out that and the dropshots, i'm still not happy with them.

You've never heard of the Morgans of Romania! A very well to do family. :-)

Yep, that fell off the radar - need to sort that out - something I think we had better in cricket.
All it needs is open editing to players without causing a "clone" then we can edit nationalities, names and those outfits. playing at Wimbledon against someone in coloured clothes feels off.

Another thing, what about edits carrying over in career? Uniforms in tennis change constantly and it would be nice to stay up to date without starting a new career. Is that possible?

(Apologies all but for some reason trying to do a quote reply today is a mess on my PC so I pasted the recent chat with mikeymerren above to make the following make sense in context to our previous chat)

Hey I know it will mean a whole new set of calculations in the code, because AI and Human players will both need to "read" the flight of the ball if the ball is bending/curving in flight, its something though which alleged more "amateur" coders for Full Ace and Tennis Elbow seem to have been able to include by default in their respective games with ease. It seems that the big bucks (I must sound American here!!) companies put graphics and player animations first and code in the ball physics as an after thought, and I dont aim that at you guys, because you already have very, very subtle sidespin in most shots that look natural, i.e. a top spin shot hit with a right handed player has a very very slight bend in flight, not always, but sometimes, to the left. But i urge you on to be able to implement this to have more blatant curving in the game. Like real life.

The way I see it, if the ball in a sports simulation has left/right/top/back spin happening on every shot or pass or hit or ground stroke or serve then it should be much more lifelike, and how on earth so many people were brain washed by their own eyes into believing Top Spin 4 was so amazing with its straight line ball physics, still amazes me to this day. Its like a bunch of zombies following a player animation and thinking "this is the chosen land"...

Hoping you can make that bending ball path more blatant and lifelike, our hopes are with you mikeymerren, and please please prioritise this over "the editor is missing this, or the editor is missing that" kind of stuff....

The team is divided into multiple disciplines, we have a few people sorting the physics and we have other people on things like save game and others on the venue creator. Nothing is stopping those physics changes from happening - we will get them in as soon as we feel they are right.

The reason why I don't go HAM on TWT is due to the fact I'm giving it time to improve, I did the same thing for AO Tennis when it came out back in January, both games were released too early for full price, I've said that in my streams/videos. Player movement and numerous animations are my biggest gripes with the game, most of which have been there since January when I first started playing, I've also said if TWT fails to deliver as time goes on, I'll happily change my views on that game and if by some chance AO Tennis can sort out the previously mentioned issues, I'll gladly give a better opinion of it, I'm not going to lie when someone asks for my honest opinion though.

Hope that clears up the clear issue, likely won't but hey, everyone is entitled to their opinion. Whenever I'm asked which one I think people should buy, I actually say not to buy either currently as both need a lot of work for the price tag.

Not quite being a child of the millennium and having the street cred equivelent to a stoma what does HAM mean???

To overreact... As in 'ham' it up. Or it's a 'typo'

From the CIC of millennials.

Hello Mikey,

My favourite part of AO International Tennis is playing casual and career matches using the licensed players in the game, but I only tend to use the players that have all their correct player animations
(serve/receive & groundstroke style) like Nadal, Kerber, Isner and Goffin etc.

There are many licensed players in AO International Tennis that still don't yet have their full correct animations Barty, Chung, Garcia, Johnson, Konta, Osaka, Radwanska, Stosur, Zhang etc. many don't even have their correct serve animation.

Are you working on adding more unique animations for the licensed players in upcoming patches? there are some nice players in the game but to fully appreciate them they need to have their own unique animations.

Thank You!
