Arsene Wenger - Time is up
2nd June 2009
arsene-wenger101.jpg
Arsene Wenger OBE, Aged 60, told Sky Sports news room LIVE "That for the club to mover further it needs a young thinking manager". Arsene stated that the big job at Arsenal was getting all to much for a man of his age. He also said he would take the job of advisors for whoever took over next as manager. Arsenal Football Club is not just about one person. It's about the people who work for the club. From cleaner to the the star of the team, everyone does there job.

Arsene in his 13 years at the club as manager has reached heights not many managers can say they have. He won the Premiership 3 times and runner up 5 times. Won the FA cup 4 times and the Community Shield 4 times. In the league cup he only has came runner up once. In the FA cup he came runner up once. FA community shield runner up twice, UEFA champions league runner up and UEFA Europe League once.

His most well known year was in 2004 when he became the only manager in the Premiership to never lose a game in the premiership. That is a fantastic achievement to reach and he should be proud of that.

The new Arsenal manager has not yet been approven but the bookies have been giving odds for the next manager. But the bookies are tipping that either Jose Mourinho or Liverpool Legend Kenny Dalglish will take over as manager. Will either of these do well with Arsenal?

There have been many players and managers turned out to this tribute and alot of them had a lot to say about the manager. Here are some of the quotes:

Cesc Fabregas - Arsenal Captain

"The greatest person you want as a manager, a mate and a mentor"
Martin Keown - Former Arsenal Captain

"A true manager, hard working and a great competitor on and off the field" Sir Alex Ferguson

"If Calsberg did great managers, Arsene is the top of the list"

Contenders for the Arsenal job

Just after a couple of days after Arsene Wenger has retired as manager of Arsenal, Sky Sports are bringing you all the possible candidates for the Arsenal job.

Jose Mourinho - For a number of months "The Special one" has been hinting for a job in England, but would Arsenal be a good choice for him? Jose, who is at Inter Milan at the moment has a very good record in England when he was the Chelsea Manager. But he's only negative thing is he's temperament. At Chelsea he was very angry manager and always having a go at the press. No-one can disagree with him that he would bring trophies to the club?

Mark Hughes - Currently the manager of Manchester City, would he consider Arsenal a step-down from Manchester City. Hughes has always wanted the United job but Arsenal is a good job for him. Plus Hughes has the experience of the Premier League. He used to be at Blackburn and now Manchester City. The only problem Hughes has it that his nickname "Sparky" tells the story. Plus Mark isn't known for bringing trophies to A club.

Martin O'Neill - Always linked with a new job. Whenever a top club needs a new manager, the bookies always tip him pretty high to be the next manager. He has done a great job at Aston Villa and he did a good job at Celtic awhile ago. IF offered the job, would he leave Aston Villa for Arsenal?

Svan Goran-Erikkson - Former England manager. Wasn't a crowd favourite with everyone in England, but he did the job. He has recently been sacked of the Mexico job, so his history of country managers isn't that great but he has the experience to take the job.

David Moyes - Didn't take the job of Fergie's assistant and then went to Everton and done an half-decent job. He could of been Manchester United manager in a few years, but didn't take it. Moyes hasn't won many trophies as managers so if he took the job would he bring trophies?

Martin O'Neill - Arsenal is my dream job

2_72943425_404x320.jpg

Martin O'Neill has told the press that he would like the job as Arsenal manager. He has managed Aston Villa for 3 years but Martin always liked the job as manager of a top 4 club

O'Neill who is 57 from Northern Ireland had a footballing career that lasted 14 years. Overall he had over 400 appearances and scored 68 goals. Martin O'Neill was born in Kilrea, Northern Ireland in 1957. He has managed a total of 5 teams over 22 years. So that must proves he has a good record.

Arsenal football club has responded to what O'Neill and they said "O'Neill would be an fantastic add to the club and we will take in what Martin has said and we will consider him as the new manager, but we are still undecided on who will takeover as boss. From Martin's stats it's pretty decent but we need what's best for Arsenal football club.

Aston Villa have responded after O'Neill confession, and they said "We wouldn't like Martin to leave but we can't go against his wishes. If he wants to leave the club, he can but he has served our club well and we hope it goes well for him if he leaves.
