MEHKAR THREATENS TO TAKE LEGAL ACTION
13th December, 2006: Ex-Pakistani Coach mehkar has threatened to take legal action against Obaid Bin Nasir and the PCB. Speaking from his little wooden hut in Mexico, mehkar has bleated, "I was not lazy in dealing with cricketing affairs and I have not done any crime against sports. Cricket is my
life and I respect it and I love cricket." Despite fleeing from the PCB HQ when the army came, the ex-Team Manager is still defiant about the claim that he has all rights over the Pakistan Cricket Team. He has even gone as far as threatening to take legal action against new Head Coach Obaid Bin Nasir: "I have sent a legal notice to The Blazer as he is trying to be the Pakistan Manager and before doing so there was no email or no letter given to Mehkar as a result of this The Board is going to take action against The Blazer."
Bin Nasir was quite amused by these empty threats, and stated the following in a press conference: "Mr. Mehkar is quite a funny little man. He has been ashamed and been exiled from the country of Pakistan, and yet he still blindly believes that he has done nothing wrong. He was chased out of the country by the army, but now he is threatening to take legal action against me! On what terms, I ask. He was given the sack, yet for some strange reason he thinks that I should have sent him an email saying: 'MEHKAR- YOU HAVE BEEN GIVEN THE BOOT!' The funniest thing, however, is that he is claiming that the Board is going to take action against me. Which board, may I ask? The Mexican Cricket Board? Because the PCB are here backing me up, and are actually the ones who sacked you!"
