Australia tour of India 2023 - 4 Tests , 3 ODIs

From the clip it clearly shows he applies on his finger first, then directly on the ball. Perhaps not altering the condition, but for better grip? Is this legal though?
"The India team management had explained that the finger spinner was applying the cream to a swelling on the index finger of his bowling hand. This was done without asking for permission from the on-field umpires," stated the ICC in a media release.

"In reaching his decision to sanction the player along with the Level 1 sanction he imposed, the Match Referee was satisfied that the cream was applied to the finger purely for medical purposes. The cream was not applied as an artificial substance to the ball and consequently, it did not change the condition of the ball, which would have been in breach of clause 41.3 of the ICC playing conditions - Unfair Play - The Match Ball - Changing its Condition," said the ICC statement.

KL Rahul is the best player in the world. He is once in a generational player we get to witness. Kindly don't spread fake propoganda against him. One day he will shut his haters mouth and show and prove each and everyone of them that whoever and whatever was said against him was all true.
TBH KL Rahul does have all the talent and skill in the world and some of his shots are spell bounding (Dale Steyn once named him the batsman that could have troubled him which speaks volumes about the reputation). I remember similar questions being asked for the persistent selection of then young Rohit Sharma who finally came of age when he started opening.

The only reason for KL Rahul to be in the team is probably that the team management thinks he would be emulate what Rohit did few years but he has been batting far too slow for his own good and end up digging a hole for himself more often than not.

That being said, if at all that is the idea (Rahul to find his mojo back) one should see the stats that clearly reflects that Rahul has been brilliant @5 in ODIs so instead of trying a completely new player in Sky in that position when we have the likes of Shreyas and Vihari on offer too in a bigger picture, why not try him @5 instead and not sacrifice Gill too?

I don't see Sky being a reliable test player though he averages 45 in FC since his style of play has changed vastly to suit the slam-bang version of cricket in the past few years.

Iyer has been really good at 5. Vihari as well. Even Jadeja can easily be promoted to number 5 given his current form. I don't think number 5 is a problem for us anymore.

Right said. I was only giving a scenario to fit in Rahul and expect him to transform like Rohit which I think what the team management is trying to do.

On the current form, Gill and Rohit should be starting the proceedings for India while Agarwal should be drafted in as a backup. There is no place for KL or Surya when a guy like Sarfaraz is in the waiting list.

Wow just wow! So the only venue with fast bowling pitch that certainly favours the Aussies and opens the Indian batsmen weakness to the short ball is not hosting the third test anymore.

What next? They’ll drop in a road when its their inns to bat?

Rahul you turn back the clock almost a decade with a post like this.

Honestly miss the passionate posts like this.

Yes, in all fairness India are well within their rights to manipulate the pitch to their liking. People just rather a fair contest between two of the better teams in the world. All this controversy really is not called for at all. I think India still got a better test side than Australia and they have a killer instinct for winning.

Absolutely, if people think just the pitches alone makes India win need to see India's test record in the last 4 years. There used to be blabber regarding the Indian side that they cannot play the SENA countries, that is no longer true and only place we still have to prove is New Zealand. India has been a top side in test cricket and qualified last WTC finals based on playing mostly away, this season for rightful reason has been opposite. Australias of 2000's had the killer instinct with their skill and all the mind games before the game, they just got bettered by a better team now.

I completely agree with this, Sarfaraz should be in place of KL and SKY.

Regardless of the reasons how can a venue not be 'ready' when this tour has probably been on the books for years.

Can understand this sentiment when the tour is amongst the really important ones in the cricket calendar for the home board and the state/center hosting it. In India, IPL is the prime focus (and rightfully so, according to my opinion; the league is the envy of world cricket right now with the kind of eyeballs it generates) and so probably Dharmashala is racing against time to get the ground ready for IPL games, which is returning to the "home and away" cycle after 4 years of COVID pandemic.

I know some pseudo-nationalist folks and test cricket nostalgists will argue on this, but test cricket comes much later after IPL -> Intl T20 Cricket -> ODI Cricket.

Which team plays home games there? RR?
