I think they considered it that Bancroft was only carrying out orders issued to him by the "leadership group" and that it wasn't his choice. Maybe...

I re-read the articles. Looks like Bancroft might be banned/suspended for 9 months as well. I missed that detail. That would make more sense

it's almost certain that these competitions have clauses along the lines of you can't play if banned by your home board. because otherwise it is open to either banned players getting round bans fairly easily, or the home board having to revoke an NOC which is potentially open to a restraint of trade challenge.

On a separate note, if you read the Cricket Australia statement, and the specific charges, it is simply not remotely possible this was only confined to these 3 players.

This is going to rumble, and not only coach and other players but Sutherland, Roy and Howard will have to go too, for the obvious and pretty poor attempt at a cover up.

BBL is a CA sanctioned event. According to CA statements, they can only play premier grade cricket in Aus, hence no BBL. As per IPL, the BCCI are trying to avoid negative publicity

All this talk of life bans is way over the top and irrational emotional thinking. They're not saints, they've cheated but everyone makes mistakes and no need to ruin their careers. 6 month- 1 year ban with captain and vice captain positions vacated is about right.

If CA want to be honest and not fool the cricketing world, they must fire Lehmann. He seems to be the root cause and is quietly in the background..

Let's give CA some credit for dishing out these punishments. Fantastic judgements passed other than Lehmann who now should be fired for not being in control of his players since the investigation proves he didn't know anything although I call BS on that!
