If you dont want personal info over the internet you shouldnt have to give a reason. That restricting their right to privacy. Its not in the forum rules.

The forum rules and vbulletin rules make it very clear that once people have posted here they no longer own the content and there is no obligation for us to delete it upon request. Of course we are usually happy to do so but may well ask for a reason to help us improve the forum for others.

Can you please direct me to this specific rule as I can not locate it? Perhaps the post would of been better stated by saying: "we are happy to do so and respect your decision , perhaps you can offer us feedback as to why you are leaving for the benefit of the website" rather than the accusatory blunt request that was given initially. Because it is a text only communication medium, it is important to be thorough and careful in what you say and how you textually express it.

Seems to be a common problem with the dministrators in these forums that I feel needs addressing.

And if you are going to ask for a reason, then why is this not stated in the rules?

First of all it is neither blunt nor accusatory. Also it is made by someone who is neither an administrator or a staff member. Get your facts straight before you start sounding off.

Unless a good enough reason is given we can't go deleting accounts. For starters it might be someone else.

There is no real reason to delete an account completely anyway, you can delete or edit any posts and information, all that remains is his username and join date. In addition to the reason Syl gave, deleting an account is a pretty permanant thing, and if they need to refer to him for any reason, perhaps his IP address will be registered to another user who is a spammer, they have the right to do so.

Yeh exactly. Its not like any of us care if he left right now. Wait a month and I doubt anyone will remmeber him.
