Career Mode Stats

What are the career mode stats calculated from? I started a new player and prior to him playing at all his bowling stats were all zero but his batting average was 4.0.
Where does this come from? I have since made three score of 30+ yet my average is now 11.

im quite worried about that myself actually, ive made 2 half centuries with my career player but i still have a ridiculously low average, thats despite the others not being bad games either (a couple of 30 scores in the WC).

also the bowling one seems off, i have taken a few wickets but i dont think my average should be 5....although thats one i wont complain about
