Gayle's done pretty well in previous BBL seasons, just this last season was quiet. Couldn't get started. That's the difference between him and the rest, once he's in then he piles on the runs in T20s - so dangerous!

No sign of Jack Ryder, and he's had 24 hrs since Narine was picked, so I will go ahead and make a selection. It's not a big loss anyway...3 good options here, no matter who is chosen.

Kieron Pollard

Antigua is proud to unveil Kieron Pollard as our icon player! Pollard is a great example of the modern T20 player: A feared hitter in the middle order; a useful bowler; an agile fieldsman; and a player sought after to play in T20 leagues everywhere!

Pollard is only 25 and still developing his game, a scary thought for opposition bowlers (and a good reason to make him icon player - he will be a fixture for a long time). Pollard's domestic T20 strike rate of 160 puts him among the very best. That gives him the 10th highest S/Rate in T20 history, and none ahead of him on that list have scored even half the T20 runs that Pollard has.

His international record looks a bit thin, but it was tainted by a lot of failures early in his career when he was very raw. Consider this: in 20 T20Is from 2008-2010 Pollard scored 190 runs, averaging 12.66, S/R of 124.18. Poor performances. Since then he has 307 T20I runs in 15 matches, averaging 34.11, S/R of 169.61.

He will be the perfect man to put the exclamation mark on an innings with his ability to intimidate bowlers and clear the boundaries with ease. Also provides good value in the field and while he's not a particularly economical bowler, he can be a good wicket taking option and will be handy as my 4th seamer.

Format | Matches | Innings | Runs | HighScore | Average | S/Rate | 50s/100s | Wickets | Average | Econ | S/Rate | BB T20I | 35 | 30 | 497 | 63* | 20.70 | 148.80 | 2/0 | 16 | 28.68 | 8.34 | 20.6 | 3/30 T20 | 187 | 162 | 3505 | 89* | 29.20| 160.41 | 18/0 | 146 | 22.23 | 7.92 | 16.8 | 4/15

Marlon Samuels
132390.1.jpg

Born in Kingston,Jamaica.A talented all-rounder who have also seen the ugly side of fame by involving in a match-fixing scandal which got him in a two-year banned but he roared back and helped the National team winning the T20 World Cup their first title since 1979.

UMAR GUL

Umar Gul's meteoric Twenty20 performances have escaped the attention of many because of Pakistan's isolation. With Pakistani players now being barred from both the IPL and BPL, it's a good job he can find a place in the CPL. His searing yorkers took the Pakistanis to their World Twenty20 title almost single handedly, and it is for his country that he has been most destructive. In his 52 caps he has two five wicket hauls, claiming five for six on both occasions.

T20 Record
|| Matches |107||
Runs |398| Average |9.04| Strike Rate |109.04
Wickets |154| Average |18.02| Economy |7.29

----------

Will let the T20 Pro catch up with both his write-ups when he makes his pick.

Ah, glad I checked this before I head off to bed :yes

I'm tempted to pick some Aussies...but with the Ashes clashing this year I will avoid those.

Instead I am picking Virat Kohli

Will post some pretty pictures and convincing case for his selection tomorrow!

Oh and one question Mr Author...what were you thinking for the rules for the under 23 players? Age at beginning of tournament? To make it slightly easier to research, what about any WI player born in the 90s? (oldest would be 23 1/2 by tournament start)

Dale Steyn the name is enough to give shiver's to opposing batsmen. He have been spearheading the South African bowling attack for quite some time and at present he is touted as the best bowler of all the formats. He has a bowling average of 16.64 in T20I's

Virat Kohli

TH27_KOHLI_641349e.jpg
05virat-kohli.jpg

Like Kieron Pollard, Kohli is a player who has finally started to live up to the hype after a slowish start. Now he can be considered one of the leading short form batsmen in the game. He has scored more ODI runs than anyone else in the last 2 years, and now his T20 game is starting to match. Consider this: in his first 3 IPLs (2008-2010) Kohli scored 797 runs, averaging 22.14. In the next 2 (2011 & 2012), a more mature and seasoned Kohli managed 991 runs @ 38.12 average. Already this year he has started strongly with 93* vs the Sunrisers.

Combine his improving IPL performances, his excellent ODI record, and his fine batting at the World T20 last year (2 50s and average of 46 for tournament) and it's clear Kohli has become a quality player. And still being only 24 years old, has the world at his feet.

Apart from performance, Kohli adds a lot to the team. Off the field he's a marketable guy, smooth talker, popular with the ladies... On the field, he's a stylish batsman who plays all the shots and he's a good fieldsman, so he'll attract crowds with his play. As a teammate he's useful too, good tactical brain and captaincy experience, and plays with passion - a guy you love to have on your team, but hate to play against.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni

After signing the iconic powerhouse, Jamaica drafted an Indian Right Handed wicket-keeper batsman none other than Mahendra Singh Dhoni. With a belief that he is captaincy would pull of Jamaica in CPL-T20. A Top class batsman of this format and an ace wicket-keeper. After leading his team to an exhilarating win in T20 World Cup 2007, two consecutive IPL edition i.e. 3 and 4, Mahi is anticipating the vic over CPL-T20.
