For bowlers moreso than batsmen, employ the wise words of Sun Tzu, do as water, flow towards weakness as water flows towards depression. Sense weakness, exploit it, naturally, do not attack strength.
Overall, it is still a matter which Sun Tzu professes; maintain the initiative. When you have an avantage, press it, if else, defend. it's pure common sense. Loose the initiative and you are fighting a loosing battle. It's purely knowing how to apply these principles that is difficult.
Everything that Richie Benaud has ever said in his commentary suggests that he knows the works of Sun Tzu by consequence innately, if not literally.
