I agree, can't wait till Parnell and Steyn cause mayhem.

I think India and Sri Lanka need another Test Series, because they're so evenly matched in Tests.

Personally I think India is a much more balanced side. Plus, the Sirils mainly dominate at home, while we are probably better overseas.

Maybe you should just get rid of the 'Dhoni hate' that you have. His captaincy has not been going down anywhere. Before, his decisions would pay off spectacularly and he would look like a hero. Nowadays, his decisions dont work as spectacularly and sometimes doesnt work at all and he is made to look normal. His captaincy remains the same. He is the only option available (Yuvraj is not captaincy material, and so is Sehwag).

India and SL still haven't won over here or SA yet so until they do that they shouldn't be classed as the number 1 side. Winning at home doesn't make you the number 1 team just a very good team at home. Even the great Aussie sides like the Waugh one in 01 lost in India.

SA definitely deserve the number 1 spot being the first team in ages to beat us at home.

Well, couldnt that example be used to argue that a No.1 side doesnt necessarily have to win at a particular place to be No.1? Australia never won in India for 30+ years but still they were Number one (they dominated for decades). Number one is determined by form, and I feel India have a good chance of becoming Number one if they have a few good series in the upcoming tours.

so, what your saying is that he is a mediocre captain. but due to his decisions clicking earlier, he was made a hero ?

I'm English and I couldn't honestly say they are the best team. Winning the ashes is a great achievement, but the Aussies are not the best team in the world, I would say SA are. If England beat them this winter then I think they can stake a claim to being the best, but being the best means being consistent and England just don't have the consistency to truly be seen as best right now.

TBH, India is very balanced as a test playing nation with players like Gambhir, Sehwag, Sachin, Laxman, Dravid, etc.
The bowling attack looks a bit weak, but batting is really strong

And that's why South Africa are number one. They're good all-round.
