DBC 17 Batting post Patch 3

I have started doing this when the opposition stack the offside and it helps a lot to play either side of mid on. I particularly do it to spinners as I feel vulnerable playing the cover drive/cut.
I lowered the bowl quality slider to zero and in my 2nd innings got an all green inside edge to keeper off a spinner trying to play a wide green ball to the covers. My drive is my best shot at 75 so it's fair to say the edging with all Greens keeps happening v spinners. It's the ball u wanna leave until some clarity as to why this keeps happening. In better news the higher ur glance stat is the easier it is to pick off balls on the stumps without LBW risk. I'll persist with more tests. Maybe our names can be patched into the QA credits:p:p:spy

i have had this happen too think happens because the ball is turning in and bat is at an angle there , the best shot to that ball seems to be front foot square drive than cover drive when its wide, only in the corridor cover drive works best for spin.

i think the edges are more to do with shot timing modifier...once i increased shot timing to 60 and others were around 45-50 and i kept edging against the spinners..then i reduced it to 55...this is much better...when i reduced it to 50 the edges against spinners reduced even more...but i think 55 is good and challenging...

Am I hallucinating or has the hook animation changed and become much uglier? Or maybe before I was only pulling and now I'm only Hooking?? Dunno...

I mean the bottom line is before the patch the complaints about batting could be summed up as: 1) can't drive between point and cover and 2) no fine leg glance.

Now the complaints about batting are 1)timing is nixed 2)footwork is too sensitive* 3) wrong animations 4)wrong directions of shot.

I am slowly coming to terms with 1 and 2 but 3 and 4 keep me baffled. Sometimes the animation and direction are in synch withbeach other but not what I pressed, other times the animation and direction are contrary to each other but the animation is at least what I pressed.

My experience can be summed up thusly: before the patch I had played nearly every game through to a finish. Post patch - I've not completed a single match, entirely due to the batting issues.

Yeah the hook shot is more like a fly swat!

i need to find out what i was doing differently before... the pull shot was both more attractive and more effective, but now i keep hooking/swatting

The first thing I got impressed with dbc17 was the thick edges. After patch3 batting feels more realistic and a lot of depth but I can't find those thick edges happening. Can others confirm if it happens regularly

Great work rounding down on that ball influence.

regarding extra cover drive, ,can you try this and see if you can target extra cover region, if you play between 2-1 oclock in RS and 12 on LS. after increasing bowl influence above 45.

Great advice. Thanks a lot. Well i tried your advice on hard difficulty and i must say it really increases the chances of ball going to extra cover. Earlier i used to find it very hard to hit a ball at off stump and 4th stump to extra cover.

Similarly can you advice me how to hit the ball more consistently on hard difficulty between mid on and midwicket. The ball either goes to mid on or midwicket. I cant seem to figure what i am doing wrong.

I've had thick edges go for 4 through gully-point region as David Warner which is highly realistic. I don't get edges through to the slips unless it's off a spinner or I've played an early cut shot that's too close to the body from a slower delivery with a left handed batsman because it's impossible to pull that delivery instead.

LS 12 RS at 10'o clock works best when the ball is on stumps, its sensitive and easy to go below it in which case it will go for glance, its also best when the ball is on the stumps, once ball is out side off stump you have to adjust LS footwork to 1-2 o clock to get in line and go for it, it will be tough to go in that region from out side off stump if the ball is out swinger. this works still the line of the ball is around 5-6 stump after that even if your foot work takes you to the ball you wont be able to get it though midwkt but more thorugh mid on. If you really have to get such deliveries though midwkt, you move your guard a bit to off stump and try.

I don't know if this is the right place for this but I just got called not out from a stumping on the first ball of the iver and was at the non strikers end after the not out signal was given.

Edit. Left a ball later in the same over to a spinner and it happened again. So that's two in one over.

yup its a bug, when ever not out is given the batsman switch places even if the run was not taken.

Interesting. It's almost a let off because I was struggling against this one particular spinner from the QLD state team. I'm now at 40* without having to deal with him too much. I almost feel like I accidentally cheated my way out of a good batter/bowler battle.

My last comment explained how I got a reprieve from a bowler who was troubling me. Well I ended up with this. (I hope the pic worked, A lot is owed to the advice one here.)

Many thanks for the advice. But it doesnt work as much. The ball keeps going to mid on or midwicket. I guess its pretty sensitive and the window is small. But in any case thanks for all the help. Much appreciated

I think the the window of opportunity between shots and for timing is quite small.
