I was just wondering, how many people on here FULLY support their local team instead of a big money band wagon team...

No matter how rubbish / good they are, everyone should at least make an attempt to support there local team..

I have been supporting my local team for 3 seasons so far, we (Droylsden) play in the conference North, not doing bad at all, sitting in 9th in the league with 2 games in hand, only lost 1 of 11 games so far (:)) Currently on a 5 game winning streak in all competitions including a 3-2 win against Alfreton Town, after being 2-1 down and down to 10 men we managed to win, also a 3-2 win Against Gateshead in the FA cup, last minute header, and last saturdy another hard fought 3-2 win over Gainsborough in the league thanks to a last minute Shaun Newton penalty. Some of the games I have seen put the premiership to shame, and thats the thing that I love about Non-League football, most of the players are only part time, and play for every penny of the money, the more the better, the passion is unbelieve able.

For those who are interested, we have a very decent photo site here: www.bloods.fotopic.net

So, do YOU support your local team??

That's quite a harsh statement! Just cos everyone doesn't support there local team doesn't mean they are part of a bandwagon...I support Man. Utd but because my dad was born there(Manchester)..My dad supports West Ham cos his dad was born in East London.

Also for youngsters the first game they go and see is normally the team they support so people support teams for that reason.

Just because everyone doesn't support a non-league team doesnt mean there money grabbing band waggoning supporters!

Who says I am talking about Manchester United... Who is the other team in Manchester, a bit of money injected and all of a sudden everyone supports them...

Probably they (City fans) did not have anything to brag about. Now they do which is why they are coming out and talking. Chelsea fans used to get shooed away by Manchester United and Arsenal ones before the Abramovich-era with comments like - "You'll never win anything" and to be honest there was nothing the Chelsea fans could have said in return because both Arsenal and United had far better squads then.

I support my local Rugby team if that counts. I used to play for St.Helens town football club if that bears any significance either lol.

I support my local team, Rhyl FC. Only costs me £2 to get in!

No you don't. You support Manchester United and erm, Barcelona :S.

Also, Lee, I've only seen you mentioning Droylsden in the past few months, before then all you mentioned was Man U. I'd say a "FULL" fan only supports one club, and you clearly support Man Utd as well. I mean I've got nothing against it, but I don't see how you can claim in the first post "do you support you local team instead of a big money band wagon team...". Just because you don't support your local team doesn't mean you're jumping on a big money bandwagon. Ipswich are my local team, and were actually doing better than Everton when I started supporting them. I support Everton because my Dad does and he encouraged me to. Just because people support a Premier League team doesn't make them any less of a fan than someone who support their "local" team.......

Just because I have pics of MUFC and FCB stuff on here doesn't mean I just support them teams. You can believe what I say or you can't. All I can say is I do support them and i go to every game I can.

I think it is fair to say I do. Born in Norwich, lived in Norwich all of my life and all of my family are from Norfolk. The ecstatic feeling I get when we score, the sickened feeling I get when we concede and the hatred I feel towards opposition fans is incomparable to any other team I see play. Even England.

Supported them through thick (play-off finalists in 2002 and Division One champions in 2004) and thin (relegated from Premiership in 2005, narrowly avoided relegation from the Championship and accused of match-fixing in 2008). I had been to a number of reserve matches before I went to my first senior game, the derby against Ipswich. When I was in middle school I went to the club's study centre on Carrow Road. I now have a season ticket.

Getting ready to go out in the cold to watch them lose tonight. Playing top-of-the-league Wolves. Yet, I am excited.

I support my local football team, despite also supporting Liverpool. As a young lad watching and playing football, I needed a team I could see week in week out. I wasn't able to go see Bristol City, so instead I decided to follow Liverpool, as I liked their team and they were on telly a lot. Until a few years ago I never followed how Bristol City did, the season they got promoted was the season I first followed them properly, checking scores ect. Now that I understand everything about football I can appreciate my home team, and now that I can watch them on telly, as well as see them against high quality teams, means I am able to support them fully alongside supporting Liverpool as well.

It's not always whether you want to support your local team or not, it's whether there are teams you like that you can see play a lot more.

I do not know why it is wrong if I support one team, but also like certain other teams more than the rest.

I think its ok if you have one team that you like from a particular country (league) more than the others. Does not mean you truly support them.

There's nothing wrong with having a particular liking for another club, but it's when people start saying that they support several clubs equally were I start to disagree with it. I for example support Everton obviously but i've always had a soft spot for Wigan and other northern teams such as Preston, Accrington and Chester, as well as fellow scousers Tranmere. As far as other nations go, everyone has their preferred team from another country. Mine would be the likes of Celtic, Barca, Hamburg, PSV etc etc.

Some of it boils down to the players that teams have. For example, I grew up watching Barcelona with Rivaldo at the peak of his powers so I naturally used to enjoy watching Barca play on Sky. A similar story with Celtic when they had Larsson and I used to look out for Ajax when they had Van der Vaart and then Hamburg when he moved to them. But I hate Real Madrid so that's that.
