If we are talking of @Westindies, I have not seen his response as he's on the ignore, I was very surprised I hadn't already ignored him - he/she generally speaks nothing but useless, baseless dribble that does not help in the slightest.

In this circumstance, I take do not accept the insult given to the Big Ant team that they need to try harder, especially when it's merely because some dick doesn't like the music choice and then uses that as a base to intimate that the team don't care and could try harder. The Big Ant team work exceptionally hard, they've shown this on this very site many a time. Why am I on here on a Saturday night? I guess it's because I am a lazy bastard! I'll try to work harder to live up to the @Westindies standards!!

I would assume his argument is the same old "I can't believe the CEO of BA acts like this/said this/that" - the typical dick that expects to be able to say anything but gets all uppity when some is given back in their direction.

As to BD's point, I am the funder, founder, shareholder, etc. of BA - I'll call it as I see it. He/she can get stuffed!

I see most here as stakeholders specifically in our Cricket games, the vast majority have my, and the Big Ant teams', respect - the would not be many weeks that go by that we don't have someone say at a meeting that they'd like to implement something in the Academy or the game because someone here would really like to have it.

He expressed his opinion; if he expanded on that you guys would rip him apart regardless. No one gets abused for stating 'it looks great' which is equally as constructive.
There's a huge herd mentality here which is pretty painful to watch.

He's right too - I think the graphics are fine, and not particularly important but they're certainly not impressive. Especially compared to their last couple of games.
And before anyone mentions that I can't make judgement because the game isn't out; don't kid yourself - that's the official trailer it's what the game will look like. YouTube compression isn't a factor.

There seems to be no shine or reflection as we've seen in their previous games (check out the trailer for RLL3 the players look fantastic) no self shadowing, minimal anti-aliasing and if there's bump mapping it's hard to pick up on. It looks like one shader is used for everything, even the poly count looks significantly lower than CPL16.

I matched up two similar screenshots from DBC17 and International Cricket 2010 trailers at the same resolution:

I'm not having a go; I'm sure it's a limitation of the engine and they made a call to go with it anyway; which I think will prove to be the right one. Game play looks amazing.

I don't think we need to take still from videos to ascertain whether a game has merit or not. I can show plenty of frames from the very best of games that don't look great. It's time to move on from comparing previous graphical quality in games, check the screenshots from the Academy and seriously, in terms of graphical quality, STFU.

@whiteness It is a fair point, if I said we had a full expression engine that was used in all circumstances then you would certainly make that point. As we let you make your own faces it limits the range we can assume, we play it safe so as to not have too many abnormalities. It's a design choice made for the better of the game.
