Don't even think about using spell-check! !!!!!!!

I think there was a documentry which stated that if you have the first and last letter in the word correctly then the human automatically fills in the rest. Sometimes we make mistakes cause we see the first letter and the last and we say the word that comes to mind first.

It becomes significantly difficult, nearing impossible, if the rest of the letters and the length of the word do not match the correctly spelled version.

there are many more things which would be better to research than this, pretty much anything else would be better to reasearch!
You are failing to look at the bigger picture. There are very useful things that can come out of this research. Here's one that's just off the top of my head:

You can figure out more particularly how the human brain organizes and connects information, which could help us in the design of future processors because the human brain is quite a powerful thing and harnessing this sort of power into computers would make life significantly different.

Obviously it is not very much on it's own, but then every piece of research is not supposed to lead to a huge revelation.

What would you rather they research? Don't say the obvious as they are already well funded and researched.

i can read it quiet easily at a normal pace when i would normally read something. It's strange tho, we dont read all the letter individually. We just need the 1st and last letter of every word, and we can pronounce them just the same. Its scary lol

LOL! I Saw About 3 And Half Months Ago. Pretty Nice.

do you want a list? i think its pretty pointless so this could be a long list

1 - which different types of mice prefer which cheese
2 - how many books a dwarf can carry on there head
3 - excatly why does toast fall butter side down
4 - if you stick a peice of toast to the back of a cat and dropped it off a roof would the cat land on its feet or the toast butter side down
5 - how useful would solar powered street lighting be
6 - how far can an orange be hit with a cricket bat
7 - if you put emtpy smarties tubes on cats legs do they walk like a robot
8 - why does the star button on my mobile not work (a little selfish but what the hay)
9 - whats funnyer, a guy running into a glass door he thought was open or a skateborder cracking his balls on railings
10 - why isnt a building called a built

that is just 10 things which IMO would be better to research (you did say dont pick the obvious lol)

Your lack of seriousness shows the weakness of your argument. Besides, many of those things require no further research because those problems can be solved by currently available knowledge.
