It was almost impossible to wipe the smile off Western Australian paceman Brett Dorey's face after his inclusion in Australia's 14-man squad for the upcoming VB Series with South Africa and Sri Lanka.
"It was a shock ? I'm so surprised and happy," he said. "It won't hit me until the next couple of days for sure."
Dorey said he was extremely proud of his latest achievement, but his main aim now was to make a name for himself.
"I'm not there to make up numbers. I want to do as good a job as I can and take wickets to maybe hang around for a while."
The speedster almost gave up the game as a teenager after suffering severe stress fractures in his back and later taking a three-year break.
However his love of cricket lured him back and he re-joined Fremantle Cricket Club before making it to the Warriors.
Dorey said he was looking forward to meeting the squad, and in particular Glenn McGrath.
"I might pick his brain for a bit ? he's a world class bowler and I've probably got a lot to learn from someone like that," he said.
With the Ashes series and the 2007 World Cup fast approaching, Dorey refuses to get carried away with the future possibilities and instead is content to focus on an old cliche.
"I just take one game at a time ? I don't try and get too ahead of myself," he said.

Good to see Dorey being rewarded for his succcess this season. Very tall bowler which is all I know about him At 28 he is younger than Lewis and he has a number of years in him. Can't wait to see how he goes in ODI this summer.
