I *don't think* this has been posted before, but has anyone seen what Andrew Wilson, CEO of EA has supposedly been saying about video games

?For you, the investor, we want to make sure that you get the most out of your money and it just so happens we do so through video games. I don?t actually play video games and I think we have made it very clear through our business strategies that we also don?t know anything about video games except what makes money.?

If that is true then he has clearly exposed EA's true colours

This is a really big shame. However at the same time it's a natural tendency for companies to get greedy in terms of money.

?People say that we are ruining companies like Maxis, PopCap, Mythic, etc., but we are making a lot of money by purchasing them, so are we really ruining them?? questioned Wilson, ?If these companies were so great to begin with, then why were they struggling and not making money?

This actually doesn't make any sense. People always don't do things for money. Look at social servants. People make stuff, code cricket simulators, make small games, and nothing is done for money. It's all done for happiness.

It's really sad that money has taken over human hobby, I guess the developers in small companies, have a certain interest in developing games, all they want is money to fill their stomach and pay their bills. For them, seeing people playing their games, whether free, shareware, or paid, would give them happiness.

Haven't bought an EA title in years, don't expect that will change any time soon.

zim is that article real or is it more of an satire i cant see someone in his position passing of such comments, also my search on google only gets the link you mentioned and this thread.

Also got a few of his recent comments
Electronic Arts' Andrew Wilson reflects on his first months as CEO - Fortune Tech
more along the regular EA PR tripe.
and popcapHD seem to have escaped layoff
PopCap Suffers A New Round Of Layoffs - News - www.GameInformer.com

You would think it was satire but would not be amazing shock if true

Just a glance at the other headlines on the site should be enough to say it's not an actual quote.

Isn't it obvious that no CEO from such a reputed company will use such words for the public to take notice of? I do not think there is even a shadow of doubt that it is a satire.

Yes it's surely satire but their private thoughts..:spy

What if EA CEO has really quoted it? I don't support it, but business is all about making money rather than interest. There are little amount of people who starts business with hobby or passion as their base. There's a greater world where everyone is running behind the money.

P4RGaming is the Onion of gaming news. So its satire, but like the Onion it sometimes says things which are a little close to reality...

Life is not all about making money. Where will all this money go after one finishes his short life ?
Life is for enjoyment and we need money for that. So we must make our passion our business and make money with it.
