This thread is going to be a collection of Sachin 's knocks in the early part of his career when he was at his attacking best. While all these are available in Youtube often cricket videos get lost in cloud without proper curating so want this thread to be a place were we can list all those knocks and share them.

So want to kick of this part in planet cricket were we can make Curated threads of videos in categories[player/match/innings etc] we want. Would make for great collection and discussion. While the SRT thread is just to kick this up looking to make some other lists too soon.

Perth-114 VS Aus 1992 - One of his best innings and showed his arrival against Topclass attacks, Merv HUghes is supposed to have said after this match to Allan Border" This little prick is going to make more runs than you AB"

Manchester-119 vs ENG 1990 - First Test hundred for Sachin and a class knock to save the match.

SCG-148 vs Aus 1992- Another class knock taking on Craig McDerMott, Merve Hughes and Bruce Reid

Capetown- 169 vs SA 1997 - Sachin taking on Allan Donald

Carnage against Aus in 96 WC - IND still lost the match, score being 141/4 when sachin out out with 90, One of the few times Sachin was in attack mode against Mcgrath

*full credit to the wonderful youtube uploaders for sharing these.

There is one match which has been forgotten somehow. It was India vs Australia 1998 ICC Knock Out in B'desh which SA won. Anyway India faced Aus, with Aus big favs. Anyway they ran into Tendulkar at his absolute best. Tendulkar scored 140 at a S/R of over 100. Remember those were days when S/R of 80 were considered good. What is more Tendulkar then took 4 wickets with the ball (4/38) to help India rout the Aussies. 2 of the 4 wickets were the gems of Aus batting line up - Steve Waugh, Bevan - widely considered the best finisher even then. I don't why this knock has been forgotten, I rarely see it being mentioned much.

This next one is another epic not mentioned much. The first ever Innings that Tendulkar opened for India. Remember this was an age where T20 was not even an option, and scoring a run a ball was revolutionary. On a tour to NZ someone got injured and Tendulkar was asked to open. He came up with this gem - 84 runs of 49 balls. Its an inning that even the best of T20 players today would be proud of, Tendulkar was doing it a whole generation before anyone else. Also most of the people here have never seen the aggressive side of Tendulkar, the player before the Tennis Elbow injury that really forced him to curb down his style and move from being a destroyer to an accumulator. I am sure it will be an interesting viewing for those who never saw at his destructive best.

Lastly this gem from Tendulkar against Pakistan in 1999 in Chennai. Chasing a target of 271 to win in the 4th innings, India were in the doldrums against one of the best bowling attacks of recent times comprising of Akram, Younis and Saqlain Mushtaq. Only one top order batsman got into double figure scores - Dravid who got 10. The rest of the scorecard read like a phone book - Ramesh - 5, Laxman - 0, Dravid - 10, Azhar - 7, Ganguly - 2. Tendulkar kept battling however, the ever lone ranger in the 90s for India, and scored a remarkable 136, with Mongia blocking up one end to a fighting 52. Even after Mongia fell, Tendulkar batted with the tail to bring the score to 254, needing just 17 runs for the win and that is when he finally got out. Still Tendulkar had brought India to the brink of a win that seemed impossible just a few hrs ago. India's score when he got out was 254/7. Sure the tail would complete the victory ... sadly it wasn;t to be as the tail could add only 5 more runs and India lost the match by 12 runs. Still it was an epic innings.

^ Not just the best innings, spoilt by all the HD channels, I am also now starting to remember just how poor the TV reception was back in the day. Especially that 94 video, jeez :)

Great thread. For a diehard Sachin fan like me(since 94), this is going to be a fun thread to follow :D

In India, for most of us whose childhoodsynced with his career (late 80s, 90s) 'Sachin was Cricket, and, Cricket was Sachin'. We had very few sporting stars growing up - Kapil Dev, Dhanraj Pillay, Baichung Bhutia, and we had heard glorious tales of Gavaskar, Amarnath, PT Usha, Dhyan Chand, etc. from the elders in the family.

So Sachin catching the imagination of this generation was not a big surprise. But its the way he did it. His off-the-field meek demeanor would suddenly be transformed into such an aggressor with the bat. We finally had someone who was not just playing a sport, but owning it. It was refreshing and inspiring and thrilling.

But I think his biggest accomplishment is how his down to earth attitude and family man image helped him become a household name. My grandmother who was hardly a cricket follower, would watch him play because she considered him 'ghar ka ladka' (kid of the house). And ofcourse when he got out, she would go back to whatever else needed her attention. Was fascinating.

This is a very rare one - Tendulkar getting a 107 off 69 balls for Yorkshire against Lancashire.

This one is a Tendulkar special from the 1996 Tour to England.

That's a really rare one thanks for sharing, also shows how much eng crowd turned out for and enjoyed county cricket in those days. Seeing the little kids pat on his shoulders as he walked off getting runout close to the target was priceless.

This gives me an excuse to post quite possibly the best picture of any cricket player ever:
