Story England's International Season 2002,India in England,2nd test,end of day 1

Total shambles from Sri Lanka!

Sri Lanka were in total disarray in their chase for 253,all out for 126 in 30 overs.
They lost their 1st wicket with 16 on the board, then Kaluwitharana and Atapattu put on a 42 run partenership, before Kaluwitharana was caught for 29.Atapattu went two runs later, but they were looking good, going at more than a run a ball in the 1st 10 overs. The four fast bowlers ripped apart the top order, leaving them 99-5,before the medium pace of Irani and Collingwood finished off the lower order and tail, with Irani taking the best figures of the match with 3-12 before a runout ended their innings.Sri Lanka have now lost all 3 of their opening games.Next match is England against India.Come back soon for that.

Goodbye

England set another great target!

They started slowly, taking 4 overs for the 1st boundary. But the openers Trescothick and Knight were excellent, both hitting half centuries. The partnership was 118 when Trescothick was trapped LBW by Ganguly for 60 off 68.Hussain came in and hit 2 boundaries, before eventually getting caught at cover for 8.

In came Vaughan, hitting a four and a six early in his innings. Then Knight was bowled by the swing bowling¿? of Yuvraj Singh for 77 off 96,having had his sights set on 3 figures. At the 40 over mark England were 205-3 and looked for a score of around 280-290.Vaughan reached his 50 before going LBW for 56 off 68.In came Flintoff to partner Irani, and they exploded hitting boundary after boundary,Irani finishing on 70* off 56,hitting 5 fours and 5 sixes, and Flintoff on 37* off 16,7 fours and 1 six. They got England to a great 318-4 off 50 overs.A difficult target, but no one really knows what to expect, even if England have been dominant so far this summer.

Come back for India's chase under lights(im playing it at Cardiff because its meant to be a D/N match)

Goobye!

Innings highlights soon!

Nice story here. Can't understand why it is not very popular.

I think it's because you're a new member, or one who hasn't posted much. It is a good story. Really liking the videos feature. England made a huge score and should be very hard to chase.

Welcome back to The Riverside for highlights of India's chase for 319 under lights.England have played extremely well so far and unbeaten all summer.Lets see how Inida got on,on a really good batting track.

Terricfic Tendulkar inspires India to memorable win!

England got off to a great start as always,Ganguly edging to 1st slip off the 3rd ball of the match.Sehwag and Dravid put on a 55 run partnership before Gough took his 2nd wicket,Dravid caught for 35.Then Sehwag was runout soon after. Then Tendulkar erruppted,he was the pinnacle in a 111 run partnership with Yuvraj Singh.Yuvraj was bowled by Giles for 29 off 73.

Then Tendulkar and Kaif put on an 82 run partnership, during which,Tendulkar went to another ODI century, off 85 balls.M.Kaif and D.Mongia were dismissed quickly to give England a bit of hope, but Tendulkar saw them home by 4 wickets with 4 overs to spare, smashing 160* off 108 balls,13 fours and 11 sixes.

A truley memorable game for India, join us soon for England's next game vs Sri Lanka

Wow! Awesome win for India. When Gangully went straight away I thought the game was over. But there were some great partnerships and Tendulkar saw them to victory.

i couldnt believe it,every over they smashed me for boundaries, looks like its us 2 in the final:boxing

Welcome to Old Trafford for game 7 of this Natwest tri series.Game 6 was played between Sri Lanka and India,India setting a very low 209-5 off 50 overs, and Sri Lanka winning by 7 wickets with 8 overs left.

Team changes

Jeremy Snape:eek: in for A.Giles and A.Tudor:eek: in for J.Kirtley.

England won the toss, and on a unbelievably wet pitch, they of course chose to bowl, and it will be difficult for Sri Lanka to set a good target on this pitch.

Sri Lanka set another miserable total and England easily chase it down!

In the 1st over for Sri Lanka,Jayasuriya hit a 4,but immedietley after that,he edged to slip off the bowling of Gough.Atapattu was runout and Sangakarra edged and Sri Lanka were struggling at 6-3.Jayawardene and Arnold tried to get the innings back on track, before Arnold was removed for 9,38-4.Gunawardene and Jayawardene put on another little partnership, before Guna was bowled for 13 off 23,65-5.Almost immedietley this became 66-6 when Jayawardene launched one in the air and was caught for 30 off 37.A boundary each for Samaweera and Chandana, before Chandana was caught for 5,77-7.Sri Lanka added just 3 more runs,Vaas edged off Flintoff, before Snape got the last 2 wickets, bowling both Samaweera and Zoysa.80 all out off 25 overs.

England were untroubled in their chase, reaching their target off 14 overs without losing a wicket.

Another crushing win from England.Join us soon for England v India

Goodbye!
