West Indies Cricket Board Announcement

West Indies announce touring squad

The West Indies have announced their squad to tour England. The Npower test series begins next Thursday at Trent Bridge. Their squad is as follows:

ECB Announcement

England announce 12 man squad for 1st Test at Trent Bridge. The squad is:

Alastair Cook
Andrew Strauss
Michael Vaughan (Captain)
Ian Bell
Kevin Pietersen
Paul Collingwood
Andrew Flintoff
Chris Read (wk)
Matthew Hoggard
Steve Harmison
Monty Panesar
James Anderson

BBC Sport Chief Cricket Correspondent said:
Well 11 into 12 does not go, and it is likely that either Ian Bell or Paul Collingwood will miss out on a spot in next week's test match at Trent Bridge. So who will win the final place in the batting line up.

While Bell is the more fluent player, and is the better stroke maker, Collingwood is the more likely to get England out of trouble.

So for now, we must wait and see who Coach Tom Moody and Captain Michael Vaughan decide to go for.

I wud opt for taking Strauss or Cook.. prbly Cook out of the TeamXI! Put Vaughan in opening again... Bell as no3! Bell at no3 is similar to Dravid for India :D Colly can't be dropped out as KP needs him incase of serious trouble ;)

So better option is to give rest to Cook :)

Pitch and Weather Conditions:

Ian Botham: Well, I would certainly bat first on this wicket. Traditionally it swings here early on at Trent Bridge but if the side batting first can get through the new ball, then they can get a big total.

Team News:

David Lloyd: And some team news just coming through, it is Ian Bell and not Paul Collingwood who plays today. Bell comes in at 5. With Kevin Pietersen at 4 and the top order going, Cook, Strauss and then Captain Vaughan at 3. Despite some injury problems, Jerome Taylor passed a late fitness test last night and will open the bowling for the West Indies.

Coin Toss:

Michael Atherton: Well a shock decision to bowl there, we'll have to see if it can pay off in the morning session of this 1st Npower Test Match here at Trent Bridge.

Out in the Middle
Jerome Taylor starts his run up at Trent Bridge, as Alastair Cook awaits the first ball of Tom Moody's reign as coach.
