I don't want Hales in the side because Roy seems to be in poor touch, I want him in there because I believe him to be the better T20 batsman (Roy is the better batsman in ODIs). I would have argued for the same even a couple of years ago and with how well Hales has improved in recent times it really is a no brainer.

I do agree that the one reason that should keep a player of his quality out is the actual reason in this instance (and Morgan deserves to select the XI he feels will work best). But as the article points out, Hales is very close to being an indispensable player that you simply cannot leave out especially if he has cleaned up his act.
Whatever the reason - which one would assume is down to a personal decision rather than form/ability - is England can leave him out because he isn't indispensable. It's not Stokes or Smith and Warner where they are irreplaceable and leave a huge hole in your side. So everything is done is transition them back into the side. Hales had his chance(s) and other people stepped in when he blew it.

It might be they reevaluate after these games in India. Like I said, reintroducing a player with this sort of cloud might not be the best way to do it if it's even on cards.

Great day for India considering England won the toss. England did get some consolation by getting the wicket of Gill. Hope India doesn't give away the advantage and score around 300+ at the very least.

And boy, Anderson's 5-5-0-1 is stuff to live for.

I would pick one Jason Roy over ten Alex Hales. May be, Roy has lost some touch after the World Cup but he's an absolute beast and extremely classy while at it. Roy was one of the chaps along with Buttler that really revolutionised England's white ball game. Just his presence is a big big effect and I am sure the team within feels that way too. Jeez, that innings against SA in the World T20 is so underrated. Set up the win.

TBF, it was Roy-Hales the opening partnership that was the forefront.

One question-

What has kept Jimmy so young over the years? Does he have some antidote or something of that sort?
