Front And Back Foot!!!!!

i need a little help understanding the front and back foot! at the mo i'm averaging around 140 on medium,, which is fine by me as i only got the game yesterday, but if you are a quality batter then could you share some wisdom and explain what type of ball needs a back foot shot and which needs a front foot shot..... and what is a down wicket shot, can you slog a down wicket shot,,,, plz help... foggy!

basically if you feel that the ball will go over the height of the stumps go back, if not so or unsure then go forward.
However, that accounts in real life.

On C-2004 you can slog going down the track.
