Looks like you are going more ahead of my expectations ;)
Its going to be interesting to see how you mange to solidify your lead over others during the season.
Haha, yeah I did noticed what option you voted for! You clearly don't think i'm capable of managing them! :p
Anyway, I might try something different for the next game as I don't seem to be getting as many posters as I used to get when I did these stories. Maybe something from a manager's point of view rather than a third person.

I have been reading this but I haven't been making too many comments. Don't worry about comments though. They will come slowly over time.

And looking good so far this season. I hope Palace can promote as well. You should probably get automatic promotion if you keep going like this.

Definitely not! I didnt want to make you over confident about your abilities:p
So I thought discouraging you in a way is the best way to raise your game ;)

A bit of a long read I know but it is a good laugh... Well hopefully!

Great start to this story, I haven't posted in these forums for a while now but I felt that I ought to after reading this. I'm thinking of starting my own FM10 story myself, as my local team the mighty Crystal Palace :p Going to see if I can get them into the playoffs and all. Good luck in this West Brom game though, I was at the Palace - WBA match a few weeks ago and they're a top side especially with Di Matteo as the manager :)

Ah thanks mate, its nice when people do comment because it does seem worth the effort that I do put in, the last update took me an hour to do.
I was really impressed with Palace when I saw them play, I did think you were going to beat us. I saw them at the The Hawthorns when you beat us 1-0 and I thought they would be serious play-off contenders but that administration rule really did screw you up.
It would be great if you did a story again, I remeber your cricket one 2-3 years ago and it was a great read. So if you do another one, I'll certainly read along! :)

Pornography? :laugh
I fell off my chair laughing!
That certainly a different style of writing. More a reporter's kind of view.
Now for some tough questions:
Why do you think Albion performed badly during the first half?
Could it be due to some inner rivalry developing between the players?
Are the players training hard enough?
What are your tactics going to be for the next game?
:p
I feel like a reporter already XD

Haha, I realised that I put pornography in at some point :p
Anyway for the tough questions:
The team performed badly because I had a bloody reporter chatting to me :p only kidding, I was doing short passing when Doncaster had enough men back so I couldn't break through them. There isn't a inner rivalry as such, there is a bit of banter between the guys I would say :). I am certainly training the players hard enough but I do feel a bit off fun between them is necessary. Finally, I actually can't remember off the top of my head who I am playing next :p, so we shall see! :) Cheers for commenting though! :)

Boro smashes 10 man Baggies to continue climb up the table

Middlesbrough fans were sent home with a massive smile on their faces as they hammered promotion rivals West Brom 5-2 at The Riverside Stadium. Goals from St.Ledger, Williams, Aliadiere and Lita were enough to give Boro all three points sending them up to 8th in table as the Baggies dropped to 7th.

The first half showed a lot of promise from both sides as they did have chances early on to score with both goalkeepers coming out on top. However on 11 minutes, Sean St. Ledger broke the deadlock for Middlesbrough with a perfectly cushioned header from the 6 yard box off Gary O?Neil?s free kick. Albion then dominated for the rest of the period with Chris Brunt?s flying shot of all of 30 yards cannoned off the crossbar and out of play. Boro held on to take a 1-0 lead at half-time.

The second half turned out to be one of the best halves of football you are likely going to see. Roman Bednar equalised for the Baggies in the 53rd minute by smashing the ball in from 6 yards in the second attempt. However, 3 minutes later, Rhys Williams restored Middlesbrough?s lead with curling shot from 12 yards passed the helpless Smithies. Worse was to come for the Albion as Mulumbu was sent off for a 2nd bookable offence in the 60th minute. Surprising though the Baggies showed courage and drew level with Bednar scoring again in the 66th minute, however he was stretchered off moments later. On the 72nd minute Boro once again retook the lead thanks to St. Ledgers second, once again a header from 6 yards. Albion went searching for an equaliser but were sadly caught on the counter as Aliadiere raced through to score Middlesbrough?s fourth and then Lita grabbed a fifth in stoppage time.

It was fair to say the 5-2 scoreline was unfair on West Brom but expect James Haywood to punish Mulumbu when he next see?s him. His stupidity really did cost Albion the game. He had this to say after the game ?I?m deeply upset and sadden by how the game has turned out for us, we got back into it twice and now we?ve ended up on the wrong side of a drubbing!?.

@ saladguy, nice to see a Palace supporter around here. I did have one on CM08 last year which was alright and I would follow it greatly if you started a Palace story.

Another disappointing result!
The manager of Boro in the after-match press conference:
"Well I am glad with the ways the boys played terrifically. We have been working really hard and I am glad the results are paying off. Albion are always tough competitors. However I think the loss of Scott Carson has affected their team morale. They are clearly missing a motivational leader on the field."

Any comments on that James Haywood?

Wood at the double as Albion go through
After a diabolical performance at Middlesbrough on the weekend, a second string Albion with only Gianni Zuiverloon surviving the axe sent the Baggies comfortably through to the fourth round of the Carling cup with a 3-1 win against Preston at the Hawthorns. Chris Wood was the star of the show with 2 goals either side of the break.

Albion started brightly with Cox and Wood both coming close within the opening minutes. But Preston?s first chance led to the first goal of the night when Nolan deflected shot fell into the path of Paterson who shot into the bottom corner past Dean Kiely from 12 yards. Albion did have chances however Henderson seemed to be unbeatable. Moments later though, he beaten amazingly by... Himself, as he somehow scooped the ball into his own net from a tame shot off Cox. Albion then went ahead five minutes before the break through Chris Wood who latched onto a through ball from Cox to score from 10 yards.

Into the second half, Preston began the better side but wasted many chances with the best coming from Davidson who fired his free kick wide. They were left to rue those missed chances on the 57th minute when Wood scored his second and Albion?s third of the night by once again latching onto a through ball, this time off Dorrans to slot the ball into the corner. Preston could have made it a nervy last 10 minutes for the Albion but Kiely did brilliantly to tip Elliott?s shot onto the crossbar. Albion came away as deserved winner plus Chris Wood certainly did stake a claim for a starting place.

James Haywood had this to say afterwards ?It is true that I did have a go at the players on Saturday after the Middlesbrough game but it was always in my mind to play the team that I had on the field tonight. I?m glad we are through to the fourth round of the Carling Cup and I do hope for a Premiership team at home so we can assess where we are and what we have to improve upon?.

Just to clear things up lads, I'm not a Palace fan and I'm actually a Chelsea fan :p But saying that, I do have a soft spot for Palace since they train down the road and are the most local club to where I live. I've got a lot of mates who support Palace too and they've taken to me to a few matches this season but no, I'm not a Palace supporter!

Personally, I think you should support your local team! I mean what have Chelsea done recently? :p

I get all the "gloryhunter" remarks alot, but I live in South London so it's only a forty minute journey to the Bridge :) Plus, I've supported them since I was about five, and go to about ten matches per season with family (who are mostly Chelsea fans) and friends so I aint that bad a gloryhunter :p

Btw back on topic with your story ;) Well done with the good solid win, bouncing back strongly after the Middlesbrough result :)
