Adam Gilchrist says the players still don't know what to expect at the Twenty20 World Championship as they will be competing for a trophy, unlike earlier international matches where entertainment was the key. "I think there is a little bit of unknown as to what's going to happen," Gilchrist said before Australia's departure to South Africa.

He stated on the news that he loves Tweny20s. No wonder why.

"I don't know necessarily if it will be the be all and end all of Twenty20, but I do think it's here to stay for a number of reasons ... and it may be a case of, if Twenty20 cricket continued to grow, it might limit the 50-over game to a certain extent, with the need to tailor the program to fit both in."

This isn't encouraging. I hope this doesn't happen. :upray

Well there is Twenty20 competitions domestically over the world and it doesn't affect them playing for a trophy.
I don't see the fun factor in doubt.

As for Twenty20 invading 50 over cricket.
It would depend on how much Twenty20 international cricket is played.
I think there will be more Twenty20 internationals in the future.
I thing a 3 match Twenty20 series to go with 4 Tests and 4-5 ODI's seems Ideal for a series, that would vary of course depending on the fixtures.

I don't see it invading 50 over cricket unless there is too much.

Well said. I mean they always have players with microphones.

I think 3 twenty 20's is a bit much. I would be happy with 1-2 twenty 20's 3-5 tests and 3-5 ODI's.

That's because Channel 9 are the providers of Cricket here in Aus.They broadcast all our home games, so they put the microphones in.

I don't know whether any other countries do it though.

I think we should have 3-5 tests, 3 ODIs and 1-2 20/20s. Anymore than 2 20/20 is a waste players time and real lovers of cricket time. They should be nothing more than practice matches

Yeah CBS is a trianglular series. A complete different series.

In Aus domestic matches the players are microphoned.

I hope it doesn't lose its fun factor as well. It is a nice way to end or start a tour between two countries and it gives people a chance to see some good cricket. Also having the domestic competitions in Australia is good to keep people interested when there is a break in between competitions (I think that is during Christmas). I just hope that all of the players realise it is just a bit of fun to entertain the crowd and a good way for new players and or fringe players to find a some form and get into the lime-light.

My view is this: Keep it at minimum, as tour warm-ups and domestic competitions.

Yep i agree lefty.

In the domestic comp dont they have it towards the end of the regular season?
The season isn't over when they start it, or am i wrong?
